@Møbius: Harpooning Jews was never the way we observed Good Friday, but then I come from a liberal family.
It's great you guys bring this up. Let's have a conversation about being Jewish. I've noticed that my daughter's classmates that are Jewish have begun announcing it when they introduce themselves. "Hi, I'm Katelyn and I'm Jewish". It's good to be proud of your background. I do have to admit that it busted me up when another of my daughter's friends responded "What do you want, a medal?" So half of your staff is Jewish. That's cool. I've worked in movies, advertising and media for many years and that's been my experience. Almost everyone was Jewish. According to the Jewish Virtual Library ([www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org]) about 2.2% of the population of the US is Jewish. I don't believe in hiring quotas, but a lot of the civil rights attorneys that have been hounding every industry in the US for 50 years seem to. Somehow hiring quotas don't seem to apply to media and entertainment. And in such a powerful and influential industry it seems more essential than most others that every group be fairly represented. Law as well. 2.2%. Looks like those civil rights attorneys have been napping. Alright so you have an unfair majority in media. As long as you don't abuse that power it's all cool, right? As long as you don't make jokes about Irish pipe bombs or keep harping on the theory that so and so was a Nazi and an anti semite what harm can it do? It's not like Jews are trying to harm Walt Disney's business. They own it now. Maybe FoMoCo should have taken the damn bailout money. If you think it's right that Jews should have such disproportionate power in media, law and education because they are smarter, or more moral, or entitled in some way that others aren't I can live with that. The reason that I am writing this is that if you do believe all of these things about yourselves, then you have an obligation to live up to it. Don't be a casual smartass bigot and then say "Aw, I wuz just kiddin'" or "We love ya anyway Hank". That's the kind of manipulative, disingenuous behavior that pisses people off. At least try to be fair and don't abuse all of that power.
You're a day late with this.
I can fix It! My dad's a TV repairman, and he has this ultimate set of tools!
@iWish: Free reconstructive surgery isn't nearly as much fun as they want you to believe. And then eventually, they won't even give you the drugs any more.
@SlowMo: That would go a long way towards changing my mind. Anything but the chrome Power Beak.
@GåßëÊdwå®d§ - Jalopy Gopnik Hooligan: I would be the last one here to argue with that.
Subaru takes the whole idea of an awkward, dull sedan tarted up with a bunch of tack on boy racer shit and makes it factory. The WRX is a brilliant drivetrain in search of a worthy body. "Paging Dr. Frankenstein..."
That's actually a great idea. Let Government Motors beta test their own car.
@mastertoby: Or maybe put the flywheel on a gimbal mount for gyroscopic steering? You could finally do that "Men In Black" trick on the ceiling of tunnels.
Our Acura dealer is practically promising us sexual favors to try to get us into a new model as our '07 TSX lease runs out. I told them straight out; "There is no way that I could drive a car as ugly as the new Acura lineup". I hope the dealers get the message back to the factory. I may buy my first Ford since the '70s.
What's this? A positive article on a hybrid car? Am I on the right web site? 12o kW is over 160 hp.
That's not a Pussycar. THIS is a Pussycar.
The actual match will be the boring part of the day for soccer kids now.
Where is a dump truck when you need one?
@Tiberiuswise: Because GM wants to screw everybody. So GM must be a dude.
This makes an excellent case for limiting the length of patents and copyrights. When it turns into a protection for bloated old fools to sit on intellectual property and do nothing with it, it's time to cut it short. Give the original author 15 years or so and then make it public domain. Besides, since the public owns GM now all of their intellectual property past and present should already be public domain.
@Alex Carlson: Obviously he never asked Mrs. Crack for her opinion.
