<![CDATA[beercheck commented on GM Using US Postal Fleet As Fuel Cell Equinox Test Bed]]> There seems to be a free-thinker loose in the bureaucrat corps. He must be stopped.

<![CDATA[beercheck commented on The Junked Cars Of Limerick, Maine]]> A bunch of cool left for dead.
Each one a story, I'll bet.
It's practically sin
That each one has been
Rode so hard, then left there like that.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on The Junked Cars Of Limerick, Maine]]> There once were three Swingers in Limerick;
Two well-worn slushboxes, one stick.
They've all had their day, they've worked and they've played,
And now they're immortal. Thanks, Slapstick!

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on 1970 Chevrolet Impala]]> @JB_Finesse: You are off to an impressive start. See if you can track down an anti-sway bar for the rear. It'll make a whale of a difference. (heh)

<![CDATA[beercheck commented on GM To Shrink Future Saabs, Reverse Brand Bloat]]> @OldeEnglishD misses Polar: Sonnet, Limerick, whatever..

There once was a car make from Sweden
Owned by GM, which was bleedin'.
Just barely afloat
They cut out some bloat
But discovered there's more to succeedin'.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on GM To Shrink Future Saabs, Reverse Brand Bloat]]> A new Sonnet would be cool.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on Ford Spends Time Making AV8R Mustang, Loses $8.7 Billion... Just Saying]]> Crap. I have to, screaming and with my nails leaving furrowed pavement behind me, go along with the crowd on this one. Which, evidently, makes it unanimous.

Is there no man among us who will stand alone in defense of this vehicle?

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on 1970 Chevrolet Impala]]> @thatguy01: Yeah, the good folks at Jalopnik are straightening me out on that one.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on 1970 Chevrolet Impala]]> @texan01: Ah. The overall dimensions and the interior of our '72s were damned near identical to the '70.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on Maserati Gran Turismo Wrecked, We Cry]]> @layabout: It was on a day much like this, in 1984, when I fell hard for the old "did you know the word 'gullible' isn't in the dictionary?" joke. I went so far as to procure a dictionary, open it up to the correct page, and shove the proof under the nose of the erstwhile idiot who, at that point, was just looking at me and shaking his head.

I think you missed something.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on Maserati Gran Turismo Wrecked, We Cry]]> @layabout: Did you actually photoshop SLRGuy into that photo?

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on 1970 Chevrolet Impala]]> @abgwin: I first discovered that phenomenon in Barnaby Jones.

There's got to be a QOTD in there somewhere.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on Maserati Gran Turismo Wrecked, We Cry]]> It's bad journalism practice to not blame the SUV.

]]>

<![CDATA[beercheck commented on One Ford, Explained: Jalopnik's Ford Announcement Cheat Sheet]]> @Ray Wert: Efforting is a synergistic combination of touching base and thinking outside of the box, right?

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on 1970 Chevrolet Impala]]> @thatguy01: This generation went clear through 1976.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on 1970 Chevrolet Impala]]> Should be "...get yourself any Chevy engine all the way up to the 390 horsepower LS5 big-block..." That's what ours has (bright red on black 4-door that's in my uncle's care in ND right now, but I was designated curator in the late '80s). Also had a shift kit in the transmission, which would give you a cool 3rd-gear-scratch. Non Positraction, as when Grandpa bought it, he didn't want Grandma killing herself going around a corner in the rain.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on Emerson Fittipaldi To Pace 2008 Detroit Grand Prix in E85 Corvette Z06]]> I gotta say, an high performance car (de)tuned to run on E85 makes even less sense than a giant SUV. Or can they really advance the timing and raise compression so much that it makes up for the energy deficiency? Anyone?

<![CDATA[beercheck commented on How Much Did It Cost To Fill Up For Gas Today?]]> @Van Sarockin: Exactly. That station is damned lucky if they're making 5 cents on a gallon of gas. Instead of simply telling them that something was up, he instead .....ugh. Nevermind. That sort of behavior in folks just makes me sick to my stomach. Moving on.

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on IFR Aspid Rears Ugly Head, 2.8-Second 0-To-62 Time, At British Motor Show]]> Are those twin rotors at each front wheel?

]]>
<![CDATA[beercheck commented on IFR Aspid Rears Ugly Head, 2.8-Second 0-To-62 Time, At British Motor Show]]> But let's be honest, this thing looks cool. The kooky Jar-Jar Binks headlights have to go, but toss on a better paint job and some sort of French badgework, and this thing is styling.

<![CDATA[beercheck commented on Do You Have In-Car Air Conditioning? No, Ours Is On-Car!]]> @mytdawg: Just last month I built a swamp-/icewater cooler for my dog for when shade just isn't really enough.

Ammo box with a couple 100cfm pc fans, water pump and radiator connected via 3/8" OD hose to a coil of copper tubing (it's a closed-loop system) that gets placed in the bottom of a cooler. It'll bring a bag of ice up to ambient in about 75 minutes. As a supplement, it's also got a wicking air filter for a few more degrees through evaporative cooling. I'm a little pleased with myself.

@DoctorNine: I doubt anyone has lived to transfer those schematics to parchment, but even a two-stroke unicycle sounds a lot better than my theory, which involves swamp gas and carrion.
