Seconded. Hell, if they bring over the Holden, it's ALREADY aftermarket-friendly. I think the big thing will be to bring over a model that's affordable enough to have mass appeal (i.e. sub $30K)
@87CE 95PV Type Я has sporadic Ireland updates in Opposite Lock: No idea how he got it past the DMV. Luck? I think he parked it there for the sole purpose to get the picture. The van is (mostly) windowless. He runs an auto shop and the van is the all-weather cargo mover.
@Roberto G.: You're actually the first person who hasn't found it funny.
Remember, baseless insults and hyperbole make you sound like a troll. Taking things too seriously makes you act like this. Relax, and keep your tone civil, please.
@Roberto G.: I was pretty sure this *wasn't* one of those blogs where people made petty insults and generally acted like immature children on XBOX Live. My mistake.
@optional flavor: I totally remember that car. In fact, the Turbo version (with "turbo" written on every imaginable surface, including the seatbelts) was my first car. $500, black, and tons of fun until the head gasket and fuel injectors blew.
Eh. To me, it's just "okay". It's not very well proportioned in the front, the styling is boring, it's got large blind spots because of those c-pillars, and being that it's GM, the drivetrain will be uninspiring at best. Since it's a Buick, it'll also be overpriced. To its credit it's not another me-too SUV, CUV or god-awful monstrosity like an accord crosstour or BMW X6. But really, that's all it's got going for it.
To sum up, I just can't get excited about this. Not like a 3 or 5-door Focus hatch, or the luscious CTS wagon. Now, if this were a rebadged Opel Insignia OPC Touring, THEN I would have commented my wagon-loving heart out on the last post.
Disclaimer: I drive a Lexus IS300 Sportcross that's been converted to a manual transmission and LSD rear. I love me some wagons.
W-140 Mercedes S-class. Plenty of room, plus those double-glazed windows really keep you from disturbing the neighbors.
I can't recommend the BMW 740iL, though. The transmission tunnel makes the center of the backseat a real problem.
I didn't own a Cordia, but the first car that I ever bought was a $500 black '86 Tredia Turbo. That was a fun, fun car, especially after replacing the rusted out muffler with a Thrush unit cut off of a junked Camaro and replacing the first cat with a straight downpipe.
I shouldn't have sold that car.
I totally took pictures of that Spinelli van and sent them in a year or two ago! It lives near downtown Louisville. The murals and metalflake purple paint are totally awesome.
I'm pretty sure those red areas in the front of the doors need to conceal missile launchers. I think I had a toy Camaro when I was little that had that feature. It's the only way to justify those doors, really.
Manual. In fact, so much manual that I am midway through converting my Lexus IS300 Sportcross from a slushbox to a proper manual gearbox. Going quite well, actually, and should be done tomorrow.
Nobody seems to have complained about what appears to be the elephant in the room: "Five speed autostick". WTF? We all know Dodge has a sufficiently capable manual gearbox available, so why isn't it stuck in this car, where it so rightly belongs? If I'm going to be ponying up 40 large for a performance machine, I expect it to have a proper transmission.
And people wonder why the US auto industry is floundering. It's poor decisions like this that drive me back into the loving arms (and third pedal) of Europe and Asia.
