So, basically salespeople. Great. That's what windows needs: a harder sell.
Why not just cut the bullshit, mix it all together and label it "Bachelor Chow"?
Anyone know just how "light" this engine is? The boxer design was being hyped by subaru as a superior layout for diesel (just like they've perennially hyped the gas boxers). I'd be interested to see what the weight differences are versus the gas mill.
@WMyers: I'm guessing it doesn't create lift by spinning, it just acts as a poorly-shaped wing for air moving across it in the direction of flight, allowing the helo to attain higher forward speeds. Kaiser is right though, you'd now need some other sort of forward propulsion, just tilting the helo foward would no longer work.
@derekste: And if all you want is 550hp, why the hell are you driving an EVO?
@derekste: There's nothing to refute. The cost of getting a honda fit to 550hp would also be less than the cost of purchasing the GT-R.

The point is that what you end up with is equal only in that one measure. It's not that the GT-R makes 570whp, it's HOW it makes 570whp, and what it does with it once it's made.

If you honestly think that an evo with a giant, laggy turbo and a built motor is going to drive as well and be as fast around a track as the GT-R, you're nuts.

@Andrewpetty: I'm guessing your first response was to ash, not to me, and I would agree that I can't see Audi putting the 140hp version in the A4, even the 170hp version would be a stretch. If they can get it above the psychological 200hp threshold (bmw 1/323d is 204ps IIRC) , then i could see it happening.

As for the second response, yeah, I've never seen them outside of big cities either, but I was surprised that they really only sold that few. The 3.2 is a complete ripoff especially when you consider that the a4 3.2 has a better AWD system.

Hopefully the addition of the 2.0t Quattro model for '09 will bring more people on board. Unfortunately due to the exchange rates they jacked the price up $2k across the board which won't help things.

@goatrope: I'd guess 3,000 of those are in LA, they're pretty popular around here.
An A3 TDI quattro would be the perfect combination of livability, economy and performance. Of course I'd need a se7en or an atom for the weekends.
@derekste: And the torque curve for that EVO would look like...?
3 years? Just sync them permanently. From what I've been able to find about the Euro tests the main differences are the fact that in the Euro side-impact test the dolly hits directly, where the US dolly hits at an angle, and the Euro cars must meet additional pedestrian safety regs.

Anything that reduces bureaucracy and overhead without affecting performance sounds fine with me.

This does smack a little of "We didn't plan correctly, so now we need the Feds to help us catch up", but I don't think it's that bad of a favor to ask for.

@bzr: Indeed, it worked for Ferruccio.
@Ash78: Me too. I was hoping for some sort of info about what movie her pieces were in.
@AndyDuncan: "Blocking is incredibly dangerous" should read "Blocking is incredibly dangerous in open wheel racing".
@NICKNICK: Blocking is incredibly dangerous and incredibly easy to do. It's not conducive to exciting motorsports to let people block.
Love it. Finally GM getting their heads out of their asses and making the cars we knew they were capable of.
@AndyDuncan: Ok, so there's two pictures, and the numbers don't match up.

Picture 1: Number 3 is I don't know what, maybe the power module, number 4 is definitely the frame

Picture 2: Number 3 is definitely the battery pack and number 4 is definitely the power module, number 5 is a bumper, but does that really need a number?

Number 4 on the image is the aluminum frame. number 5 doesn't exist.
Standalone wireless broadband plans from ATT, Sprint, and Verizon are $60/month.

That's what they cost. Whether or not they are "worth" that to you is a different story. But adding tethering to the phone for an additional $30, making the full cost of your internet plan $60 is exactly in line with the going rates.

Again, you might not think internet is worth that, but that's what it costs.

So ATT currently offers the iPhone (and other) plans as "Unlimited" because they know that most people would have to make Herculean efforts to download more than, say 5gigs/month on an iPhone.

But their internet plans, like the 3G card I have, are capped at 5 gigs.

If they offer tethering, it will be at a cap, which means, say 5gigs for phone AND laptop combined.

I can't WAIT for the f-ing uproar when people start bitching that they are paying more for tethering but getting less (it's no longer "unlimited").
