I called the dealership last month and asked them if there was another Lambo dealership nearby. When the surprised salesperson asked me if he could help me out with the purchase, I referred him to this story. He blabbed on for 4-5 minutes about "one bad apple"... etc etc. I wonder if my little international call was a small part of the solution?
I'm impressed and amazed at how responsive internet blogging and top-notch sites like Jalopnik share the feedback and keep the companies responsive. What happened with Bahar was a classic moment of PR disaster, and although this letter is a great response (and well edited and received by jalopnik) this episode will no doubt help Lotus become more attuned to what is going on with their customers. This type of exchange can only help things get better. BRAVO Jalopnik... you (and possibly "we") are very relevant now.
here is my take: he was carrying something illegal and had been getting away with it. He used the "principled" approach as a way to get out of the situation... better risk losing his job than getting arrested
i disagree with the prevailing opinion here. I think this is a significant car, it previews both a new design language and a seminal manufacturing process change (forged carbon!). The car is innovative, and sets a new benchmark... Ferrari is definitely paying attention.
i think Lamborghini is finally defining a new design direction, moving away from tradition type of proportions that have existed since the first countach prototype. I admire it, think it needs to be toned down a bit for production, but massively impressed overall. The interior is truly a new direction with this missing-bulkhead and floating/structural dash. Turning a corner in styling like ferrari with the 458, but with typical lamborghini flair and real construction technology to back it up. Exceptional and relevant concept IMO.
no way this is just a concept with all the road testing they did. this is like bmw calling their car a concept when it's actually their finished product. it's ugly in butch hard-core kind of way... and the first audi i would consider buying over a bmw (bloated m3 etc.) Will be interesting to see how this compares to the upcoming 1series BMW M car.
