I remember standing right there and realizing that it was closer to where I was standing than I first thought--I could reach out and touch it! It wasn't some big sedan, it's actually a small car that manages to avoid looking pudgy and upright! I thought it was brilliant.

you can set it to measure the scaled-speed of you hot wheels or set it to actual speed. he dumb kid's probably clocking traffic at 840 mph.

<![CDATA[YankBoffin commented on Five Ugliest Concept Trucks]]> That Nails concept may look like it's made of Legos, but I'm kinda diggin it. I think it could be a great starting point for designing a new small truck. I assume it's just too puny for the folks at pickuptrucks.com

<![CDATA[YankBoffin commented on New Photos Reveal The 2009 Ferrari California In Glorious Detail]]> Somehow that belt-line/style-crease just doesn't have the graceful flow that those Italian designers usually get so right.

..and the grill still looks grafted on. I declare this the ugliest Ferrari of the last 20 years. It's not ugly, but I've come to expect better from them.

<![CDATA[YankBoffin commented on Car & Driver Drags Odd Couple Car Combos, Shows Mom's V6 Camry Is As Good As A WRX]]> @long_live_the_E36: "Further evidence in favor of the argument that sports car manufacturers should be thinking about reducing weight, not increasing power."

+1. That's definitely what this should be illustrating. I think the problem is that no one wants to compromise. No one wants a sports car that sacrifices comfort, ammenities, and is noisy and contains cheap plastic interiors. In short, most people don't want sports cars, they want comfy, plush, safe cars that are sporty. Excepting the Elise, Exige, and perhaps the track-special varieties of 'vette, viper, etc., most "sports cars" fit this category, including the R8, WRX, cooper S, and Bullit.

<![CDATA[YankBoffin commented on PUTC: 2013 Ford F-150 To Get Four-Cylinder EcoBoost Engine]]> This sounds as ill-suited as that 1.6L celica motor toyota put in the Matrix. Reportedly you had to rev the hell out of it to get moving.

The power is certainly there, though. There are plenty of 4-pots out there producing 250 bhp or more. The 2.5L motor in the Legacy GT is very tractable and can't really be decribed as "high strung."

<![CDATA[YankBoffin commented on PCH, Rear-Drive Japanese Sedan Hoonage Edition: Cressida or Maxima?]]> @SundaySunday: The Premier is a Blasphemer, too, since it's a rebadged Renault.

My buddy owned a Premier in high school. Brilliant car on paper: Italian coachwork, aluminum OHC V6, alloy wheels, electronically controlled 4-spd trans, climate control. In reality most of those things failed with well under 100K on the odometer.

Anyway, as to the hell, I think the cressida is the more hellish project. Given the sole purpose of the finished project though, I'd probably go with whichever had the best power:weight ratio.
