@nataku8_e30: Yes sir., when you're right you're right. looking at the figures over time it's quite clear that they are porkers. One thin thou, the 635Csi was about 200kg, not 200 ibs lighter.
@hawkeye18: Well I'm not a US citizen - Swedish actually, so not even a NATO country - but the rivalry and "smack talk" is the same, NAVY fags, Army meat heads, aiforce show offs. Even if - as we used to - you have armed forces that consists mostly of conscript, conscripts that sometimes ended up in the unit they did by pure chance, you still feed the rivalry as it bonds your unit together. The ultimate bonding experience is probably being under fire, an experience I for one am glad that I never had to experience (conscripts where only to be used in the defense of the country and as luck has it, we haven't been attacked since 1809, if you disregard a couple of Russian bombings by "mistake" during WWII), but I do respect the individual soldier, sailor or officer that has, regardless of nationality and political view.
I'm sorry if I offended you - or any other sailor/marine - in any way, I was just "shooting some shit" and intended no foul. I just get a bit carried away when I get to shoot of a couple of totally non PC jokes.
@CJinSD: To some extent, I agree with you, but I also believe that an high revving straight six would have been sweet in the m5, instead of the "look at me, it's like formula one" v10.
On the other hand it will probably be replaced by a twin turbo v8 that's even less in keeping with the light, nimble and NA spirit of the E30.
@hawkeye18: I'd like to inform you that it's an accepted fact that the NAVY is a bunch of fags on a boat, snooding isn't half as bad as a "bubble head", as a guy who believes thar real men belongs on - not right next to or above - terra firma, i presume that it's some kind of drug crazed blow job that "seamen" (or is it semen?) perform on each other or the "first mate" under the leadership of the Leading Seaman. Why all the obvious gay innuendo, why the gay songs, why are you attracted to womens with fish parts instead of legs and genitalia (or at least womens that smell of fish like the marines)? Why does sub crews (witch are literally, not just ON - but rather IN - the down low) have to keep quiet before they try to fire an phallic symbol - IN THE DARK - up Charlie's six? To me that screams of boarding school rape fantasies. Why does naval officers train with, and in, Analpolice? Why is SOP "don't ask, don't tell" for the rest of the armed forces but "don't ask, don't tell, but DO touch in the navy"? Why is the little hat that serves as a cocktail table a part of the uniform? So many questions and only one answer, the navy is gay!
In all seriousness, it's fun to take a stab at the other branches. Hell it's even fun to pick a fight with the cavalry if you're infantry, it's fun to pick a fight with the other company, it's even more fun to pick a fight with the other squads, at times it's even funny to get into an altercation with the other fire team. And above all doesn't we all love to argue with the other guy in our fire and maneuver team? And at the end of the day he's your best friend.
Good riddance! Engines like the V10 ruined the, "light and fast" M cars of yesteryears and replaced them with bloated cars with cheese CF roofs and obnoxious spoilers.
@w1llk - Undoubtedly Cookies: Come on, the camera was probably wicked expensive and hasn't mythbusters concluded that driving woth you tailgate down increases fuel consumption?;-) On a serious note, I know what you mean.
Bucciali, the prototype with two continental engines, driving the front wheels, it's a french car after all. The pic actually shows a "lesser car" without the neat 16cylinder power plant.
si le diable avait une voiture ce serait une Bucciali
@macheath: Yeah, even if you keep in mind that WWII got in the way it's pretty awesome, imagine Schummi winning at monaco this year with his Benetton F1. But you know a Mini is officially way cooler on jalopnik these days than an car with dual superchargers and a straight 8, a car that that won races in three different decades.
@Psiu! Puxa!: Your 244 is the coolest car I have ever seen!: True that, although the 125 was a racing sports car and competed in the mille miglia so the ferrari engine should probably also be considered a race engine. The 1,5 v12 was design for F1 and supercharging, and delivered 280bhp in that configuration in 1949.
