<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on 2009 VW Jetta TDI Sedan, Sportwagen Eligible For $1,300 Federal Tax Credit]]> Sweet! Looks like I'll have bigger fuel budget when mine comes in. (It's not technically on order yet since there's been no official word on when the wagons will start production, but I am on the wait list of the dealer my mom bought her '02 Jetta TDI sedan from.)

<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on Obama Endorses $4 Billion Automaker Aid Package]]> @Uberwagon: Hey, Britain's home-owned car industry imploded and Blighty didn't fall off the map; it merely became a tax-out-the-arse police state full of pathological knee-jerkers.

I can haz deja vu?

]]>
<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on PCH, Turbo Offenhauser Euro Sedan Edition: Peugeot 404 or Rover 2000?]]> Rover fer shure, but sell the Offy (or build a street rod around it) and find a helicopter engine and create a sort of street-legal cousin of the turbine-powered Rover-BRM Le Mans racer of the '60s.

]]>
<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on 2009.5 Ford F-150 Diesel Spotted, Could Produce 350 HP]]> @narf: Hmm. Learn something new every day.

Also, I just noticed: Did the photographer lift up the camo flap on the left rear fender to expose the urea and (presumably) fuel filler necks? If so, he or she is 11,000 kinds of ballsy.

<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on 2009.5 Ford F-150 Diesel Spotted, Could Produce 350 HP]]> Sweet, though I don't see why they could have sacrificed some output to bump the fuel economy gain closer to 30%. Oh well.

<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on 1973 Buick Electra 225, With Bonus 1973 Poll]]> Deuce and a Quarter all the way. Though I personally prefer the Oldsmobile full-sizers of the era (generally cleaner styling, IMO, and vague memories of my grandma's late, lamented Ninety Eight Coupe), Buick engine were always famous for being p*ss-drunk on torque.

Gas prices and political correctness be damned, I will will own a 1971-'76 B- or C-body!

<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on 2010 Chevy Cruze To Get 45 MPG, Fight Prius With One Powertrain]]> @Tomsk: And for the record, I genuinely hope this thing is a hit and saves GM's backside.

]]>
<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on 2010 Chevy Cruze To Get 45 MPG, Fight Prius With One Powertrain]]> Did GM hire Doug Pelmear as a consultant? The EPA pegs the current Prius 45 mpg highway, the new Jetta TDI is rated at 40, and the smart fortwo (the thriftiest gas-only new vehicle sold here) is rated at 41. (I know, the EPA figures for any vehicle are still suspect even with the new tests, but like it or not, Joe Bloe still accepts them as gospel.)

Long story short: I'll go to Jim Bob's House of Roadkill and order their All-You-Can-Eat Fried Crow Platter if the General can crack 40 mpg hwy on the EPA cycle with this baby.

<![CDATA[Tomsk commented on The 2010 Lotus "Eagle" Has Landed With New Pictures, Analysis]]> Not bad, but not "OMG wowzers that's hot all the dragons have wood" great, either.

I have to wonder how Toyota feels now that the secret of the 3.5 V6 actually being compatible with the 6-speed stick is out. Probably something like, "Oh, crap, we've just lost an excuse for not building something cool. Thanks a bunch, Lotus..."
