@wojo to Ford-Awesome SHO, Great Job!: You A) are a complete idiot! B) deserve COTY! C) should totally have a star! (delete the ones you don't agree with):
GSR is already an import term.
@PaulJones: In short, back in the day everyone wanted to be like Jalopnik. We weren't chosen for some breaking news, or leaked press release. We were linked, chosen, and talked about for our deep understanding of the CULT, of cars.
I went to AB for the boring press releases. But I went to Jalop to comment. And since that switch, I don't look back.
Drinking games are gone, JFG, week-day murilee... El Camino love and misguided alcoholics HOONS with keys to a set of wheels. "Hold muh beer" didn't come from a press release.
But since the start of the new year, and 1.5/2.0 have shown that now Jalopnik tries to be like everyone else. And that is not what makes up "obsessed with the CULT of cars".
We quit being the cult, and tried to become the majority. And that is the fundamental problem.
Where's POLAR? Ash? Novaload? Charles? Bumblebee? BeerCheck? Danio?
We lost LOVERMAN to fucking AutoBlog! And have you seen the commentorgasmism they have with OUR caliber of writing?
And I heard Krewson walked off recently as well.
I don't know the solution. But, who here remembers Hell-Camino and Satan's Lincoln? I do. Goofy classic ads? Junk yard Bungaloo radio? The twisted and the strange side of the automotive world. That is the Jalopnik that brought me here for sure.
Learning something on the history, the culture, the CULT OF CARS. And via the commentors, a truly unique source of tales and information that make me on of the most unique car guys amung my group of car guys.
Of the writers, Wes, Ben, Matt, Peter (He's growing on me slowly) and Especially Murilee have the writing prowess to make us the Cult of Cars once more.
Because if we're not the cult of cars, we're just another blog site.
