On the issue of taking professional-style photos of oneself: I wouldn't necessarily criticise it. As the article discusses, her personality is is rather uninteresting, so she should be allowed to play on her strengths like her looks.
Whether the photo should be in the yearbook or not is another kettle of fish. I'd need to compare the photo with the rest of the yearbook and see if it looks out of place, because if everyone else has a straight mugshot face on a blank background then she would just look silly (never mind the sexiness).

What if Fiat bought Chrysler back in 1973?
With the dawn of the 126, Fiat decided the whole world would work much better driving microcars. Unfortunately, the aesthetics did not appeal to the US market so they copied the styling of the Chrysler New Yorker...and made it a micro hatchback.
Then suddenly, Sergio Marchionne wakes up from his wild dream and realises he is now in 2012, so needs to add modern features like hybrid drivetrain, projector lights and fancy low profile wheels to really sell the concept to today's consumer.
I agree wholeheartedly that electric cars are not currently economically viable and are impractical in most cases, but in the same way we have greatly increased the efficiency and performance of petrol cars, why can't we do the same for electric? I think I recall a Jalopnik article about Edison and Ford making a prototype electric car but never unveiling it: imagine how advanced the electric car would be now if they started development back then.
Fossil fuels are plentiful now (hence the market doesn't really care), but I believe that (ideal) electric cars are the best investment when we run out. We have countless alternative ways of generating electricity without fossil fuels, and many of these we cannot copy into our cars like we can with petrol (i.e. you can't put a nuclear reactor under someone's bonnet).
Not to mention we already have the infrastructure in our homes and workplaces: you can theoretically fill up just about anywhere. At the moment electric cars are being charged via household sockets at household voltages, I am sure further improvements in charge times and electricity costs can be made if every household installed a separate high voltage circuit specifically for the task.
Essentially: yes, electric cars are boring impractical hipster trophies now but, as much as we love them, petrol cars were terrible when they had just been invented too.
Electrolysis is another option, but it still costs electricity...which we may as well put directly into our cars.
You're supposed to ask her out *instead* of giving her a ticket.
You can't have your cake and it it too.
I hope they don't use those cheap wheels on the finished product either.
