LTDScott, Porcubimmer pilot commented on Toyota Prius Global Cumulative Sales Pass One Million... Is That A Native American Crying? On a side note, I have not seen a single car embraced by so many different social and economic levels as the Prius. I see tons here in middle-class San Diego suburbs. I saw tons in snooty Newport Beach when I was there a couple of months ago. Hollywood celebrities want them as much as gas mileage conscious average joes.

Clearly the illusion of being green is the appeal, but I've never seen another car driven by the whole socio-economic spectrum. Obviously Toyota is doing something right.

LTDScott, Porcubimmer pilot commented on Study: California Hands-Free Law Could Save Hundreds Of Lives @Mike the Dog: Agreed, but in my experience it's not the phone that causes the problem. It's just plain inattentiveness, and the inability to talk and drive at the same time.

I can't count the number of times I have been a passenger in a car with someone and the driver turns to look at me every time they speak, or use their hands to speak and end up veering out of their lane, etc. Granted, the new law will at least help to keep hands on the wheel, but it's certainly not a solution to just plain poor driving.
