best sounding V6 indeed. I made 2 or 3 recordings of my '99 SE Sport V6 with the resonator removed for posterity. That sounds wrong but the sound was oh so right.
@Andrew Liszewski "In the world of pico projectors, 80 lumens with a 2,000:1 contrast ratio is as bright as you can buy right now"
Not even close - check out Vivitek's Qumi at 300 lumens, Optoma's ML500 and a number of others out there. I've used Optoma's PK301 at 50 lumens in a decently lit room (overhead lighting, sunlight coming in from floor to ceiling windows) and it was bright enough to run through photos and PowerPoints. Great for a 1.5 hour movie? Maybe not, but LCD and Plasma TVs get washed out from ambient light and yet still watch for hours on end (think sunlight through windows/reflections)
I feel downright honored that I've been able to witness the Robertson's efforts first hand a number of times at Lime Rock. Always my favorite cars to watch and listen to, their GTs hold a definite top 5 spot as to why I love auto racing.
Fantastic news - the Scott brothers, beyond their definite movie chops, know how to make good TV format shows as well. The Good Wife being a great example. Seriously.
I have a feeling that in person, the lines on this car, especially along the front end, look much less fresh water than in the photos. In fact, I'm thinking more dragonable hell fire.
@pauljones: But how about a Ford GT that has a separate, clear-windowd compartment that sits on the engine and cooks strips of bacon, with a vent that pipes in the aroma as you row through the gears? The rush of speed, the feel of the fantastic shifter in your hand, the whine of the supercharger, the hammering roar of the 5.4L powerhouse, and.....bacon. Smoky, sizzling, fantastic...bacon.
I'd like to see it in black, but overall, this has joined my possible purchase list (joining the 2012 Focus, late 2000s Legacy Wagon, early-mid-2000s V40, and some others)
I'm in shock that you left in '07...! Crazy how time really does fly. Or drive. Well, I guess fly can work as well, though I haven't seen as many Planelopnik posts as I remember from the summer months. Welcome biggidy biggidy back!
I keep going back and forth on GT5 - I'd need to get a PS3 first of all, and the sound in just about every portion of every GT iteration has not been up to par (it matters when you have a nice 5.1-Channel setup). The lack of more realistic smoke effects and the possibility of not having great rubber/dirt marking effects is keeping me on the fence as well. Now hearing the wonky bumper car elements still exist, and the fact that you need to reach a career level (almost halfway) to get most of the damage effects isn't helping.
BUT, I really would like to see a car (or two, or 30) doing 180+MPH wheelies down the straights of the test tracks in glorious Full HD 1080p. I still laugh every time I think of the Escudo Pikes Peak going 200+MPH on its rear wheels in GT2!
@cesariojpn: Amen. I plan on setting up the DVR, and trying to watch as many episodes of TGUSA in one Saturday afternoon as possible. Here's to hoping it lasts an entire season so I can have an all-day car Saturday when there's some massive flood or something else that's preventing me from getting in my own vehicle and driving around.
Oh cmon. MotorWeek isn't THAT bad. It's been on forever. We've ALL seen at least one 5 minute piece of one episode of it. It fits an entire week of Motor-ing into 30 minutes. 30! WinZip could never compress like that!
