I would say it is very relevant due to being the "Halo" model for Ford going into the 2010 time frame.
It is still one of the best values on the market hands down.

That is cool I remember the old Mazda 929 from the 90s having a solar panel to keep the fan inside the cabin running IIRC.

Well it helps that the 2.3 Ford 4 banger can pump out about 600bhp with the right turbo/fuel/intercooler setup.
