Uh, no, the decision for Houston to be a lead center in NASA ops was made before Johnson was in position to make the call, please brush up on your history. Albert Thomas, not LBJ, on the decision to locate the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston.
It's sickening the corrupt politics behind this. How in the name of NASA does this make any sense? Houston is NASA. The Smithsonian I understand, it's our national museum and was always getting a shuttle, as it should. Kennedy SC I understand, they launched them all. Even LA I can understand, put one on the west coast, they shouldn't all be east of the Rockies.
But NYC? Seriously? Within two hours of DC and has done NOTHING for the space program, let alone the shuttle program, which was supposed to be one of the guiding characteristics of choosing the sites.
Ah, but remember, Bouldin is Obammy's appointee and NYC is a bastion of Obama support while Texas is not. This is a punishment to Texas for being a conservative, prosperous state and I hope that all those who supported this liberal buffoon punish him and his party come 2012. This is akin to the goverment declaring, "Of the four remaining Model T automobiles, none should be in Detroit." Same exact thing.
It's a great tag line. I'm sure it will be lost on most of the doped up Prius driving public, but it's a great pot shot at the stereotype that all imported cars are, by default, better than domestics due to the simple fact they they're imports.
Two things. 1. Best ad of SuperBowl 2011, nuff said/end of story/PERIOD. 2. The whole "shoulda used the 300" debate is interesting, but the 200 makes sense. The commercial is about Detroit and the 200 is the only car in Chrysler's lineup actually built in the Detroit area. And in regards to the 300, that car will pretty much sell itself. The new 300 is an excellent update to a car that was very well regarded in it's outgoing form (just got a little long in the tooth). The 200 will still be seen by many as a warmed over Sebring (even though it is much more than that), thus it needs all the PR help it can get until the replacement gets here in a couple years. Very well done by Chrysler and their marketing folks. The new ads from Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler this year have been just awesome.
It's not at all uncommon for people to be let go from their companies and they flee the country. Dubai's debt prisons routinely hold expats who've been let go from their high paying assignments without a way to pay the debts they've incurred in the UAE. Perhaps this person was one of the smart ones - got let go and went straight to the airport, do not stop at home, feel free to pass go, but do not try to collect $200.
"By executive order I decree that electricity be cheaper than gas and batteries be cheaper than gas tanks. Now both the energy source and it's storage medium are cheaper, solving the problems plaguing electric vehicles. Vote for me in 2012."
The thing that would make me more nervous would be the ability of someone to copy the fob's code and then steal the car at their convenience. Being within eight meters of me and my car, I'll take notice that you're trying to steal it.
But if they can copy the code and use it later, that's a concern. I wonder if something like rolling code garage door openers are used on these fobs.
