Agreed. I'm thinking instead of benchmarking the M3, with the Z28 they should benchmark the Porsche GT3 RS.

I agree with everything you said. At first I thought LS7, but you're right, to differenciate they should definitely beat Ford to the Twin Turbo V6 muscle (sports) car. It'll needs to be a VERY good engine, though.

Probably not as forgotten as that Isuzu engine, but how about those LT5's from the middle years of the C4 Vettes. Lotus design, American application... great engine in its day.
