Wow, I really hate how this thing looks. If this is what is now considered cool and good looking, I've officially passed into old fartdom.
@ephophex: Chevy badges should be small and blue, as God intended.
@mikedrawcar: mikedrawcar for the win!!!
If you like hideous crossovers, it was your lucky day!!!
@ChicagotoLA: P.S. Bill Ford doesn't count, he sort of fired himself, though that took balls, too.
Wow, a corporate board that has the balls to fire a CEO? When's the last time that happened at a U.S. automaker?
NOooooooooooooooo. Make this useless, overweight, poser, 4-door-coupe-barfover madness STOP, please! My kingdom for a new first-generation Integra!
What a crock. This is how VW plans to get their mojo back in the U.S. market, by bringing us a lard-assed Polo? My next car will most likely be a very small hatch that's fun to drive, probably either a Fit or a Fiesta. (I'm willing to wait for the Fiesta--but it had better be good.) The Euro-spec Polo looks like it would go right up to the top of my list. The Cheesecake Factory version? I'm not gonna bother thinking about it.

Hey, I got an idea, though! Why not jack up the Ameri-sized Polo, put faux skid plates on the bottom of the front and rear bumpers and make it a crossover!!! Call it the Trowrorg or some other brilliant VW name!!! Damn, I oughta be in automotive marketer!

I remember when the X-cars came out. There was a lot of hope that these were going to be GMs world-class compact cars. Then, we saw them in the flesh. I remember my brother and I went down to the local Pontiac dealer late one night after they closed and sat in a Phoenix. (Yeah, kids, they used to leave the cars unlocked on the lot. Things have changed.) Anyway, odd proportions, crappy materials, and build-quality that still has people swearing they won't ever buy a GM vehicle again. I always thought the Skylarks were the classiest looking X-cars, though I didn't mind the Citation hatchbacks, either. What a shame GM didn't produce something decent. They wouldn't be begging for money now if they had.
@drewthat: Custom is a very old Buick trim designation.
OK, Ford is really trying to win us over now. How refreshing to see that attitude from a U.S. automaker. I'm not in the market for a large, 4-door sedan, but if I were, this would be it. It's hot inside and out. Excellent job!
@brandegee: YES! The bowtie is SMALL and BLUE, as God intended it. I just hate those enormous gold ones on the badly proportioned grilles and asses of current chevys.
@Grrrrrrrrrrr!: It would be kind of rich to see Wagoner have to commute in an Aveo....ha!
@mechimike: Absolutely, mechimike, I mean, they don't even seem like they're **trying** to make it **appear** as if they get it. Which, of course, means that they really don't.
@karmakid: Yeah, would that really have been such a hard stunt for them to pull off? I mean, don't they have a huge staff of overpaid PR people who are supposed to be thinking about this shit? (Notice, I did say "stunt", but still, it would have shown a little effort, anyway.)
Passenger: Is the car making a strange noise?
Driver: Oh, you hear it too?
I know the dissolution of Chrysler is inevitable (under GM or not), and I know how badly Chrysler sucks now, but this still just makes me sad. Of course, I still miss AMC. Heck, I still miss Studebaker, and I was only 2 when they went out of business.
@ChicagotoLA: er, filmmaking, er, how's about "simply brilliant"?
Simply brilliant filmaking.
