<![CDATA[Comments from CharlzR]]> <![CDATA[Comments from CharlzR]]> <![CDATA[CharlzR commented on 1973 Buick Electra 225, With Bonus 1973 Poll]]> Ah, the 1973 MGB. I knew a hot cheerleader who had one. And even though she never gave me access to the much more pleasurable ride that some of my more athletic friends apparently enjoyed, she did let me drive the MG.

<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, Part Three]]> Yeah, yeah, kid around all you want about tree-hugging, America-hating commies not liking this car. I actually *want* to be driving a Bruce-tacular American-made new car in twenty years. But this thing is a vehicle for fiddling while Rome burns. Any manufacturer that isn't fully engaged with alternative fuels and technologies right now is not going to make the cut. I'm all for saving old classics for car shows and Sunday drives. But making something like this that wants to claim the old rules of cheap gas still apply isn't simply stupid or suitable only to fat boomers who only listen to classic rock. It's a good way to put the last nail in the coffin of an auto industry whose only real greatness has derived from innovation, not myopic, self-indulgent waste.

<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on 1970 Lincoln Continental Mark III, Plus Bonus Lincoln Poll]]> Yeah, this is nice alright, but in terms of styling and proportions, it's all about the Mk V, for which the special editions were just an added bonus. Who cares about the 125 hp V-8?

<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on Taste The 2009 Ferrari California Rainbow!]]> Suddenly Ferrari's multi-year waiting list looks like a good thing. I don't want to have to see one of these for 24 months or more. There was a period when Hyundai started ripping off small design cues from the 456. Why is Ferrari taking the rear fender line from an old Tiburon? Hideous! They have clearly phoned this one in, with the expectation that all the new Russian and Chinese money wil comeporuing in anyway.

<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on Saab 95 Survives San Francisco Streets, Plus Bonus Lancia]]> The two-tone paint on the Saab needs to follow the converging V-line on the hood. Then it would be perfect. The Fulvia, of course, is already.

<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on Nooooo! Two Sweet Pontiacs Destroyed For Sake Of Art]]> This strikes me as not that well thought out. If he is going to ruin two more-or-less classic cars, he should follow the process all the way through to making them unrecognizable junk. As it is, it looks like he didn't understand the physics of it well enough to know what to do when the noses started to move upward.

<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on Toyota Prius Global Cumulative Sales Pass One Million... Is That A Native American Crying?]]> @weatherman: I agree. I don't get the hate either. Build some bloated yuppie nostalgia wagon with more horsepower than most of its yahoo buyers could ever handle, and they'll praise you to the skies. But build something that makes a palpable move toward the efficiency that is absolutely necessary in a world of declining oil, and you're branded as a delusional and sanctimonious douchebag.

]]>
<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on Spada TS Codatronca Production Announced, Tie Fighters No Longer Cool]]> The front is derivative (Lambo) and cheap looking. The proportions (for the 1st 3/4) are derivative and unremarkable because maybe of the Corvette basis? The rear is a horrible mismatch of C2 Vette boattail and GTO Breadvan with too may fussy details. Designer of the Alfa TZ1 should have rested on his laurels, not gone back to overdo drastically a previously charming styling eccentricity, whether it's aerodynamic or not.

<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on Hot Rod Citroen DS Packs A Familiar Punch]]> @mr.chöppèrs: I'm with you. Citroën pointed its own way toward hoonage with the SM. Why not some updated Ferrari mill running through the front wheels with hydraulics intact? I like the bodywork and I don't mind the color.

<![CDATA[CharlzR commented on 1972 Lincoln Continental Mark IV]]> If I'm headed the luxobarge route, I'd prefer the Mark V. It's ridiculously even larger, even more crisp, and I can spend my time deciding among the various designer special editions--Bill Blass, Givenchy, Cardin, etc.
