<![CDATA[Comments from Beluga]]> <![CDATA[Comments from Beluga]]> <![CDATA[Beluga commented on Hillary = Not Exactly The Loser Here, People!]]> Why do you people support that woman as though she's some kind of feminist Christ figure? She's ridden on her husband's coattails her entire adult life. She's tolerated a philandering liar who disgraced her. She screwed up nationalized health care by being a failure as a politician and screwed up her own campaign by being a failure as a manager. Jesus, a woman president would be great--but she needs to live out her days as an assistant principal somewhere.

<![CDATA[Beluga commented on Is The Mustang Still Relevant?]]> It was a real cultural watershed in the 60's. It survived on echoes through the following two decades. In the 90's and 00's it latched on to empty-nesterism and the retro craze.

Now, I think it's time for the old nag to take a nap. There are enough used ones on the road to keep the knuckledraggers busy for the next couple of decades.

<![CDATA[Beluga commented on How Much Risk Are You Willing To Take?]]> @chrismcdowell25:

Make sure it's SNELL M2005 compliant. Previous Snell ratings resulted in helmets that didn't absorb enough energy for motorcycle use. DOT only still is sufficient, and actually better than old Snell-rated helmets.

]]>
<![CDATA[Beluga commented on How Much Risk Are You Willing To Take?]]> @Tanshanomi: I would say it's actually more like 70 percent who don't know the real risks. To the stupid innocents you have to add in those who know it's dangerous but think that some combination of extra lights, open pipes, and Aerostich Roadcrafter, a DOT/Snell helmet, reflectors, and MSF experienced riding courses will make it "safe". Motorcycling is not a substitute for taking the bus or driving a Volvo: It's a substitute for BASE jumping, white-water kayaking, civil aviation (twice as dangerous as biking, according to statistics). You go into it knowing the risks, enjoy it for as long as it's a joy to you, and after it becomes too hairy you move on to something else. If you don't survive then at least you made your decision in freedom.

People tend to think personal safety is the greatest good, and therefore anything unsafe is "evil". I don't know whether to call this cowardice or ignorance. I'll just settle for "nauseating".

<![CDATA[Beluga commented on How Much Risk Are You Willing To Take?]]> We're all going to fucking die anyway.
