Since the post says nothing about being stranded, I'm assuming that transportation to and from the island is not an issue and I don't have to waste my wish on some sort of amphibious monstrosity. I also assume there is no island authority enforcing safety and smog regs. This nixes every street legal car ever produced. I am tempted to jump to something like a 2010 Red Bull f1 car, but as a mortal, I'm quite sure that I would regret this decision. For something fun for me to drive into "perpetuity" on asphalt, I'd be happy with any DTM car.
jerky is perfect. It is delicious and utilitarian. It never goes bad. As a safety precaution, I eat jerky constantly never clean my car. This way, if I am ever caught in an avalanche situation, I will be able to survive on snow and the Jack Links that have accumulated under my seat. Safety First.
Maybe the car is cursed. Or maybe the car was built on Bratwurst and Hefeweizen Thursday at the Porsche factory. Detlef and Dieter may have been too high on life to construct the 550's parts properly.
"It's been a quiet year for the world's motor industry." I suppose that the imminent collapse of the American motor industry and billion dollar losses on the part of the two most "profitable" car manufacturers didn't make enough noise to reverberate through Jeremy's thick skull.
The Republicans must be behind this.
There can be no utilitarian purpose to this idea. There are currently no volume produced electric cars and the maker of the only such vehicle planned is facing imminent bankruptcy. The only possible purpose of this idea is to make a statement. I suspect that the Bay Area governing bodies know that in ten years these charging stations will either be obsolete (as no fast recharging technology standard has been agreed upon) or useless (as it is not clear that it is possible to market an electric car). Thus, in the future the charging stations will be a reminder to all of what happens when you abandon the tried and true for hopes and dreams. The ultimate statement against progressivism and the Obama followers. I wonder how the Democrats let the GOP get away with this? I thought San Francisco was liberal. Maybe with the distraction of the election allowed for some slight of hand.
This is not surprising. The Chinese have been Rocket crazy ever since Yao Ming joined the NBA.
@theeastbaykid: I thought for sure that the MB E320D met CA emissions.
Isn't everyone in the media on crack? My perception of this site would certainly change considerably if I found out you guys weren't smoking rocks all day. Crack addiction is the only reasonable theory that I can come up with which explains your obsession with Transformers and El Caminos.
@silentbutdeadly: Possibly the same mechanical engine components as the Jetta, maybe the same lug pattern, but that's about it. Different platform, different transmission, different body, blah blah blah. Could have the same radio, though.
@layabout: Maybe you can. We can't get any diesels in our golfs here in the states.
Wouldn't you all rather complain about not getting this:

204hp and 43.3 MPG. Plus, it looks better

Ditch the slushbox, Honda. An automatic turbo-diesel doesn't exactly jive with the sporting image that you have been trying so hard to cultivate with the Acura brand. I cannot think of a less responsive set up.
I follow the no doors policy. Weld 'em shut. I've found that if you paint a Rebel Flag on the top and slide across the hood in tight jeans, Brunettes in short jean shorts find this set up irresistible.
@pres: The VIN is from 1990. If the engine matches the VIN, it would be a SOHC. I've never had the valve cover off. I'm afraid of what might be under there. I think she needs a new engine. Hopefully Jay will be kind and give a low residual so that we can at least throw a SR20 in there.
@pres: The world's worst 240. The roll cage was about all that was holding it together. But, the engine's apparently got good compression, so we'll probably race it as is next year.
i am not a big fan of chrome, but I am a sucker for a set of chrome tipped dual exhausts. How did this not make the list? It is the only appearance modification that i would ever consider applying to my car. Am I way off base here?

Also, Matt, have you never seen the bubbled rear window on a Zagato bodied Aston Martin? If you have, do you honestly think that tail fins or "round tail lights" are a better stying expression?

See, this is why we can't have nice things.
Apparently you can polish a turd.
