I voted nice price. I tend to think that the distinction between a sporty 50's car and a non-sports intended car from that era is comical. As grass roots motor sports showed us a couple of years back, a honda oddyssey will out slalom an e-type and a Porsche 356. I'm sure going from my WRX to a 50's sports car would be both terrifying and enlightening. For me, that fact that it appears clean and rust free far outweighs the fact that it lacks sporting pretenses of the era. Besides, can't I just add a spoiler?
what kind of transmission is in that thing? I see where, what I presume to be the gear indicated read-out is changing, but could not see the driver's action which brought about the gear change. #kenblock
re: the el camino. there's what appears to be a Shelby Dodge Rampage up the street from me. I move that it be added to the list as an alternate. #topten
@Electro_Boogie: I was just pulling my response from the motor authority piece which stated: "The only problem is turbo-lag, according to Ferrari engine developer Jean-Jacques His.
Speaking with Autocar, he said: "Turbocharging will come eventually, but we need to solve the issue of turbo lag." He went on to explain that a delay of any sort before the power arrived was unacceptable for a Ferrari engine."
Besides, it wasn't all that long ago that folks were writing off turbos, and their heat sucking turbines, as casualties of stricter emissions regimes. #motorauthority
very well written piece. I'm only left to wonder what kind of person sees an engine block and then thinks, "well, that would make an excellent family crypt?" #bugattiveyron
I've been waiting for a 710 to show up on DOTS. This is one of two cars my parents had when I was born in the late 70's; though their's was a 710B, whatever the hell that means. Their other car was a 68 Camaro (v6). I remember the Datsun more. It had perforated seats and was prone to backfiring loudly. I hesitate to mention to this crowd that at the age of approx 18 months, I somewhere wrangled the idling Camaro into gear and drove it into the side of our house. This rendered the driver's side door inoperable and the forced the sale of the car a short time later. The datsun soldiered on into the mid-80's; when it was replaced with a k-car. #1975
according to the 0-60 mag piece, he plans on jumping it.
"So are there plans to jump this thing?
You, know, I’ve put a lot of thought into this, and weighed the limitations that the Mattracks system presents and it really just boils down to…Yes!. It’s a rally car, it has to jump"
that should make for an interesting bit of physics. #kenblock
@ozyran: that's what I was thinking. if the engine and tranny are in good shape then they ought to live on in something else. the rest of the car is problematic at best. note how the rear seat headrests are well beyond the windows in the rear doors - looks comfy. #mercedesbenz450sel69
@dumanue: the ultimate irony of family guy was expressed when they lampooned carrot top. pot meet kettle. it's an awful show with two semi-serviceable characters in brian and stewie. beyond that macfarlane proves that writing a good cartoon is hard and that he should find something else to do.
