"@RH77: The problem is, the base Vette or Z06 probably do a good enough job of being GM's halo car without the ZR1. The ZR1's a ridiculous frivolity from a business perspective unless someone set up the pricing and volume such that they're actually sold for a profit. Aborting the program like this can only serve to make the development costs more expensive. I have a hard time believing this is true, though."
