Check this beast out. Spotted it while visiting my family last week, and I had to stop to take some pictures just for Offtopnik. More pictures in the comments.
@mikehtiger: No clue. I felt weird stopping to take pictures, let alone touch it. I should go back and hop in the driver's seat for a picture, thereby blowing Jalopquest wide open.
I tried looking underneath the front end, but it was thoroughly shielded from debris and my prying eyes.
@Socialvegetable: That is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen! The steering wheel is pure art.
As for what it is, from the looks of things I would guess it is a 1987 or older GM 3/4 truck chassis with a custom body by Lord Humongous. Why those years? Well, later years of GM light duty trucks used an independent front suspension, not the parallel leafs of this thing. Plus, it has GM truck wheels from the 1980's, and a Saginaw steering column, and a GM truck movable, under hood drop light attached to what is now the dash. I believe these were only used on 1988 and later trucks, but I may be wrong on that one. The black painted shifter stalk and alloy front wheels make me think it is from the later 80's, but I may be wrong on that. Also, the "Custom Deluxe" dash badge was from a model that was discontinued after 1987, so it also points to the correctness of my hypothesis.
@pj134: Brownsville Road in Trevose. This was last weekend, so I've got no idea what it's up to now. That thing's too badass to be trailered. Seeing it on the road would be amazing, and nobody would hassle you.
I was thinking that as well. It is littered with bits and pieces from an early 80's GM truck. Probably rolled the truck mudding, so they stripped the body and put the bare necessities on the frame to hold it together and somewhat protect the passengers.
That steering wheel is awesome though. Looks like it's straight from a low rider, except for the whole polished, shiny thing.

I knew that if I posted this here, the commentariat would be able to deconstruct it bit by bit. Thanks for hypothesizing, I'm impressed.
