Last week we learned how <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5699630/how-a-baja-race-team-saved-a-life">Kent Kroeker and his Baja race team</a> used their Marine Corps emergency training to save the life of an American missionary struck by another driver in the Mexican wilderness. Here, finally, is the full story. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5702323/how-a-baja-racer-saved-an-american-missionarys-life" title="Click here to read more about How A Baja Racer Saved An American Missionary's Life">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

The Baja 1000 rightly claims the title of North America's toughest race. But one race team faced their biggest challenge before the race began: Saving the life of a Mexican man whose vehicle collided head-on with another Baja racer. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5699630/how-a-baja-race-team-saved-a-life" title="Click here to read more about How A Baja Race Team Saved A Life">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Hummer is <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5480242/hummer-not-dead-yet-gm-considering-other-offers">mostly dead</a>, but last summer, we took two H3s and joined <a href="http://www.thehummerclubinc.com/">the Hummer Club</a> on an expedition to Michigan's <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=drummond+island,+mi&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=43.578243,88.945313&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Drummond+Island,+Drummond,+Chippewa,+Michigan+49726&ll=46.003639,-83.662949&spn=0.300002,0.694885&t=h&z=11&iwloc=A">Drummond Island</a>. While the Samurai established Suzuki as a car maker in the U.S., it was known to be unstable in quick maneuvers. We have got to find out more about this incredible six-wheeled Suzuki Samurai posted for sale on Craigslist in Lansing, Michigan. According to the seller, it's diesel-powered and operates with hydrostatic drive so all wheels are powered &mdash; somewhat reminiscent of an Argo 6x6. It's not surprising the seller is looking to trade for something a bit faster; we're betting it's a legendary mudding machine, but snail-slow on the road.(<em>Hat tip to <a href="http://jalopnik.com/people/mytdawg/">mytdawg</a></em>) [<a href="http://lansing.craigslist.org/cto/826309406.html">Craigslist</a>] <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5045933/amazing-suzuki-samurai-six-wheeler-for-sale-on-craigslist" title="Click here to read more about Amazing Suzuki Samurai Six Wheeler For Sale On Craigslist">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Most guys into off roading will equip their rig with anything from a set of 33" tires for light duty rock crawling to 44" tires for deep mud bogging. Of course everyone has their preferences and guys usually make tire size decisions based on ego as much as utility. <a href="http://www.4x4offroads.com/suburban-49-inch-tires-and-atlas-gears.html">Kristjan Kristjansson</a> of Iceland either has a big purpose, or an enormous ego because he's gone ahead and fitted his <a href="http://jalopnik.com/cars/news/gm-debuts-largest-gmc-chevrolet-suvs-in-los-angeles-146720.php">GMC Suburban</a> with 49" flotation tires. They make sense for playing in Iceland's frozen wonderlands, but we have to wonder how the tire hum has affected the cabin ambiance. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/354753/gmc-suburban-with-49-inch-tires-will-stop-at-nothing" title="Click here to read more about GMC Suburban with 49 Inch Tires Will Stop At Nothing">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Despite its relationship to the <a href="http://jalopnik.com/345473/detroit-auto-show-hummer-hx-and-the-halo-warthog-the-final-word">Halo Warthog</a>, the Hummer HX made a pretty big <a href="http://jalopnik.com/344177/detroit-auto-show-hummer-hx-concept-would+be-halo-3-strike-vehicle">splash</a> at the Detroit Auto Show. One of its coolest features is the <i>front-facing</i> camera that's integrated into the rear-view mirror. Throw in a docking slot to record your off-roading adventures directly to an iPod and you've got something quite cool, indeed. Sure, the HX is obviously <i>very</i> conceptual, but this is a <a href="http://jalopnik.com/345069/detroit-auto-show-top-five-concept-car-features-thatll-never-see-production">feature </a> that doesn't seem too farfetched. Of course, it's also a feature that may be destined to document tragedy, especially in this YouTube age. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/346722/detroit-auto-show-hummer-hx-records-off+roading-adventures-directly-to-ipod" title="Click here to read more about Detroit Auto Show: Hummer HX Records Off-Roading Adventures Directly to iPod">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Just about the last thing you expect to see when you're out wheeling with your tough new Jeep Wrangler is a tree making a move on your crotch. It's one of those things not normally within the sphere of operation for trail driving. Normal is not what happened to one driver out for a New Years day expedition. This is the kind of thing should get back to Chrysler's engineering department for consideration in the next revision level. Anyway, well let the eyewitness from <a href="http://postworthy.com/Worthy/ex/Jeep_Vs_Tree/60.aspx">Postworthy</a> lay out the details for you: <a href="http://jalopnik.com/342722/jeep-wrangler-skewered-by-tree" title="Click here to read more about Jeep Wrangler Skewered By Tree">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Now this is a concept. It's a Daihatsu transporter decked out, Pinzgauer style, as a mountain-bike support vehicle. Unlike other, more bleeding-edge concepts, the Mudmaster-C (awesome name construction, check) is a body-on-frame mini van-roader, with significant ride hight and fat angle of approach by way of a "hub reduction system," which transfers drive power via gears mounted between the driveshaft and wheel hub. That means super stream-fording potential. Boris Vallejo airbrush job and chinchilla upholstery not included.
