When <em>Gone in Sixty Seconds</em> came out in 2000, the Mustang which held the lead role as "<a href="http://jalopnik.com/tag/eleanor/">Eleanor</a>" became an overnight sensation. You couldn't throw dead blow hammer without hearing someone compare a car to Eleanor. The brutish fastback was just the right mix of vintage and modern. In that vein, the Obsidian SG-1 is a car as modern as anything on the road, but maintaining a throwback look. Originally a puke green '67 fastback, the SG-1 (which does not travel through wormholes to faraway planets) is now a study in excess. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/385322/eleanor-has-competition-with-the-obsidian-sg+1" title="Click here to read more about Eleanor Has Competition With The Obsidian SG-1">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

Now that 1,000 hp is the new 500 hp, a 900 hp Mustang Fastback may not carry overwhelming numerical firepower. But the Obsidian SG-1's allure is in the execution. Sporting a novel intake system for its dual superchargers and twin intercoolers, the Coupe-R merges old muscle with new tech, for a result that doesn't seem retrograde or neutered-modern. More than 10,000 hours of work by CoupeR Design and Autoworks International went into the build, which included major engine, transmission, cosmetics and electronics mods.
