Behold! The Cayman we've been waiting for! The GT4 has everything we've ever wanted in Porsche's mid-engine sled. It has the 991-derived 3.8-liter flat six, components shared with the GT3, and only one transmission option: a manual. Oh, and it ripped through the Nürburgring in 7:40 – right on par with the last-gen 911 GT3.

Let's just get this one glorious line from the press release out of the way up front:

Its power is transmitted by a standard six-speed manual gearbox with dynamic gearbox mounts – there is no PDK transmission option.

Nicely freaking done, Porsche.

That gearbox shuttles 385 HP from the 3.8-liter six to the rear wheels, delivering a 0-62 time of 4.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 183 MPH. But anything with a "GT" from Porsche isn't just an engine that screams to 7,400 RPM; it's about the total package.

To that end, it's got all the kind of GT3-inspired kit you'd expect, with a suspension lowered by 30mm, optional carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon fiber racing seats in leather and alcantara, an LSD, and a new steering wheel.

Twenty-inch wheels are standard, along with an LSD with Porsche Torque Vectoring and Porsche Stability Management. Options including a Sport Chrono pack with a Track Precision app, and there's also a Club Sport package to compliment the aggressive new bodywork.

The debut is slated for Geneva, and the Cayman GT4 is set to arrive in dealers this July starting at $84,600.
