Tonight at 10pm EST the new Ford Mustang will be unveiled here in Los Angeles. We couldn't wait that long. So this morning, we talked Ford into letting us drive shoot a 2010 Ford Mustang — a few hours before everyone else. Initial impressions are positive; it’s like the old one, but like, with an exterior that's 25% more "sexy." The interior is finally made from the kind of materials that belong in an actual car and not a Hot Wheels model of one. While it isn't as gaugegasmic or cool as the 2010 Chevy Camaro, it is head and shoulders better than that of the 2009 Dodge Challenger and the out-going model Mustang. Our favorite part, however, is the engine, which despite the lack of a refresh, looks drop-dead gorgeous underneath that big strut-brace and brushed cover. The 2008 LA Auto Show starting tonight will see the debut of the new 2010 Ford Mustang we revealed first in full for you last night— nearly 44 years after the original 1964 model made its debut on the show circuit. The Mustang's not only the original pony car, it's the only one to continuously sell for all 44 of those years. With such an established history, and with the new Challenger and Camaro nipping at its tail, we were skeptical of a redesign we were told was more an "evolution" rather than "revolution." Our friends over at MustangBlog have themselves a scoop this morning before the day of the official reveal of Ford's new pony car, the 2010 Mustang. The bloggers all about the 'stang have somehow snagged the official options and pricing on the premium package on the new 2010 Ford Mustang GT. That package would come with a 4.6-liter OHC 3V V8, Sync mated to the Shaker 500 audio system, 18" wheels, pretty aluminum accent dash, pedal covers, shift plate & shift knob and a leather steering wheel. In addition to the premium package, we're also told to expect a GT Track Package for an extra $1,445 with dual piston calipers, performance brake pads, a 3.73 axle ratio and a recalibrated stability control. Ford has dribbled out another teaser shot of the new 2010 Ford Mustang. It's our first glimpse at the...err...front...corner...region. Nothing against the upcoming 'Stang, but these teasers only have value if they actually show something to get excited about—and this one really doesn't. Unlike previous teasers, which showed off the first clear look at the dashboard, the seats, the badge and details, this new shot only gives a very shadowy look at a small portion of the grille, and an angle of the fender which is hard to judge proportion by. Ford continues their slow piece-by-piece-by-piece reveal of the 2010 Ford Mustang with this official photo of the car's dashboard. Since it's just a teaser, you can't really make out much except the dash and the side view of the steering wheel, but it looks like a more rounded interpretation of the outgoing model's interior. Of course, as you can see from the spy shots below, we've already seen the what the new 'Stang looks like on the inside. A heavily camouflaged 2010 Ford Mustang took to the track on "Ford Mustang Day" during the Road America festivities this weekend in the land of cheese and onions called Wisconsin. Ford's calling it a special public "debut" of the 2010 Mustang, which served as the pace car for the vintage racing field during the weekend's races. We're told the leather and fishnets it's sporting are its "special 'camo' package." Special? Package? Here we thought it was just to keep Ford design secrets safe. Now Ford's got us hoping this "special package" will become an actual for-purchase package for the new muscular pony car. But we doubt that dream will ever become a reality. We've now heard from a second source that Ford is readying a return to the 2010 Ford Mustang of a badge familiar to malaise-era muscle car fan-boys — the Mustang SVO. Just like the original limited edition mid-eighties Mustang was all about merging power performance with fuel efficiency — we're hearing similar rumblings on this new 'stang. We'd already heard Ford's plans for the Boss engine lineup and we already understood the new Mustang would be less V8-focused than the current Mustang's muscular lineup. We'd also heard the pony car would be receiving Ford's new silver bullet, a twin-turbocharged engine equipped with their new EcoBoost technology.
