Welcome to <a href="http://jalopnik.com/tag/down-on-the-street/">Down On The Street</a>, where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. Though we've seen many of Alameda's first-generation Mustangs (a <a href="http://jalopnik.com/cars/down-on-the-street/1965-ford-mustang-324019.php">'65</a>, a <a href="http://jalopnik.com/351960/1966-ford-mustang">'66</a>, another <a href="http://jalopnik.com/399730/1966-ford-mustang">'66</a>, a <a href="http://jalopnik.com/cars/down-on-the-street/1968-ford-mustang-307993.php">'68</a>, a <a href="http://jalopnik.com/381736/1969-ford-mustang">'69</a>, and a <a href="http://jalopnik.com/397389/1973-ford-mustang-convertible-plus-bonus-mustang-poll">'73</a>) and even <a href="http://jalopnik.com/cars/down-on-the-street/1976-ford-mustang-324031.php">a Mustang II</a>, the Fox Mustang hasn't been well represented here. In fact, we've only had <a href="http://jalopnik.com/397928/1986-ford-mustang-lx">this beater '86</a>… until now. Yes, parked just a block or so from the <a href="http://jalopnik.com/400047/1989-ferrari-mondial-t-cabriolet-with-bonus-pininfarina-dots-poll">'89 Ferrari Mondial T</a>, here's a very nice example of the rare <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang_SVO">Mustang SVO</a>.<br /> <a href="http://jalopnik.com/5046183/1986-ford-mustang-svo" title="Click here to read more about 1986 Ford Mustang SVO">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

We've now heard from a second source that Ford is readying a return to the <a href="http://jalopnik.com/cars/2010-ford-mustang/2010-ford-mustang-331120.php">2010 Ford Mustang</a> of a badge familiar to malaise-era muscle car fan-boys &mdash; the Mustang SVO. Just like the original limited edition mid-eighties Mustang was all about merging power performance with fuel efficiency &mdash; we're hearing similar rumblings on this new 'stang. We'd already heard <a href="http://jalopnik.com/396765/whos-the-boss-ford-to-axe-boss-engine-in-mustang-limit-use-to-super+duty">Ford's plans for the Boss engine lineup</a> and we already understood the new Mustang would be less V8-focused than the current Mustang's muscular lineup. We'd also heard the pony car would be receiving Ford's new silver bullet, a twin-turbocharged engine equipped with their new EcoBoost technology. What we hadn't heard was what the boys over at <em>Garage419</em> today claim &mdash; that it'll be a four-banger capable of hitting 300 HP and this newly-badged 'stang will be lighter than the GT by 500 lbs. Holy game-changer, Batman! <a href="http://jalopnik.com/397811/ford-to-bring-mustang-svo-badge-back-for-2010-with-300-hp-eco+boosted-four+cylinder" title="Click here to read more about Ford To Bring Mustang SVO Badge Back For 2010 With 300 HP Eco-Boosted Four-Cylinder">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>

We love the '80s and not just for Rick Astley, Members Only jackets and New Coke. All that's well and good, but what we really love can be described in one italicized, chromed plastic-emblemed word: <em><strong>TURBO</strong></em>. The 80's economy forced automakers to use weaker and smaller engines, so to boost power we all turned to MacGyver-rigged turbochargers. With all that super turbo potential out there, it was hard for us to come up with a top ten list of the most totally awesome turbocharged American cars from the 1980s &mdash; but nonetheless, we did. Ogle the 80's heart-action, then tell us which is your favorite in the poll below. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/376157/top-ten-totally-awesome-turbocharged-american-cars" title="Click here to read more about Top Ten Totally Awesome Turbocharged American Cars">More&nbsp;&raquo;</a>
