It makes one horsepower. It’s the only car that’s ever been driven beyond Earth. The moon buggy was one of many great moments in Hungarian-American engineering and, for a day, it showed up in Budapest. More »

Initially, this post was to be about NASA's Great Moonbuggy Race, a competition for brainiacal science types who want to design human-powered vehicles approximating the size of the original LRV used on the later Apollo missions. But our research led us to the Lunar and Planetary Rovers website, and there we obsessed over the seriously cool space-exploration wheeled vehicles. The training vehicles used in preparation for lunar driving are expecially fun; it's a shame that an AMC V8 would have been impractical for use in an atmosphere-free environment. [LunarAndPlanetaryRovers.com] <a href="http://jalopnik.com/345884/lunokhod-or-molad-rollin-extraterrestrial-style" title="Click here to read more about Lunokhod or MOLAD?
