Although its exterior was only slightly redesigned from the prior year's model, Ford added quite a bit of excitement to the 1969 LTD by "jamming the forward compartment with some muscle" and drastically redesigning the interior. Back in 1973, a brand-new XJ6 listed at about $9,500. For that price you got 150 horsepower, four-wheel disc brakes, Lucas Electrics, and plenty of sophistication. For less than half that price, you could have a 154-horse LTD Brougham! More »

The Fox-based '84 Ford LTD really did handle pretty well… if you checked the boxes for all the suspension options that came on the cop version when you bought one, that is, and for some reason that bit of info doesn't get much play in this ad. This ad would have been far more entertaining had Mr. Bondurant taken the base version out for some door-handle-scraping racetrack action. Why, some madmen even autocross the Fox LTD! More »

Now, we can't say for sure what sort of transaction was captured on film by the Google Street View photography vehicle; perhaps the Illinois gentleman with the roll of bills is negotiating for the purchase of an 80s Ford LTD. You see how <del>obsessed</del> dedicated I am to shooting Alameda street-parked cars for this series? Even in the midst of a rainstorm howling in off the Pacific, I'm busting out the camera when I spot a cool car parked on Alameda's busy main drag! And it was worth it in this case, because nothing makes a beater LTD look tougher than rainwater pouring in past all the bad weatherstripping. More »

Even though an 80s Ford Crown Victoria with a 302 under the hood probably doesn't stand much of a chance of beating the nimbler cars, we're still rooting for Team Sin City LeMons. That's because they've got North Las Vegas Barbie riding on the bumper, a fur-covered roll cage, and some other nice features... More »

I ran across this hoontastic autocrossing '89 Ford LTD Country Squire wagon over on CrownVic.net the other day and, after LTDScott mentioned it yesterday, it seemed like a good time to share it with the wagon-loving readers of Jalopnik. Most of us don't think "Ford station wagon" when we think of handlin' machines, but that might change after viewing the video of the Family Truckster. It's just a shame all station wagons don't sound like this one! [CarDomain.com] More »

Friday's Choose Your Eternity poll was won by the '71 Datsun 510 wagon, which beat the Gremlin (though not by an ass-whooping margin). Today we're going to go seriously low-buck, with a pair of projects available for a mere five Benjamins... or maybe even less, depending on the ruthlessness of your dealmaking chops... More »

Today's Down On The Street car could be looked at two different ways. You could see it as a beat-up heap, suitable for nothing but lowering property values and no doubt owned by the evil silhouetted guy on the Neighborhood Watch signs, or you could look at it the way you'd look at a once-glorious mansion now fallen on hard times. I'm pretty sure you know where we stand on that question. More »

Car buyers in 1965 faced quite the dilemma. It goes without saying that the reading on a decibel meter inside the passenger cabin is the number one priority when making a car-purchase decision- everyone knows that- but say you're geared up to buy a Rolls-Royce and now you find that the new LTD registers a quieter dB reading? What do you do? Why, buy the LTD, of course! – Murilee Martin More »
