We're not naming any names, but rumor has it that one Jalop once attended grad school for poetry. This only lasted about three weeks. Still, we're not too macho to admit to digging a little bit of word play every now and again. Even if poetry isn't your bag, it's hard not to like Charles Bukowski. Here's a ditty he penned in one of his last books, Septuagenarian Stew:
The important thing
 More »

First of all, I'm sorry to disappoint anyone who interpreted the photo above as an indication that a late-70s Mercury Cougar and an early-70s AMC Hornet actually finished in the top 44 at the 24 Hours of LeMons race at Altamont over the weekend. They did not; I used this photo because I wish they had so triumphed. Second of all, I got plenty more photos to post of this Incredibly Jalop-Approved Event™, but it took me so long to prepare the ones you see below that you'll have to wait for later to see the rest. Jump like a gutted CRX sliding sideways into a tractor tire to see the Top 44... More »

Those of you who have been breathlessly following the saga of my poor WRX's clutch will be happy to learn that I picked up the little devil on Friday and drove it home, no problem. Then, on Saturday, the bloody thing wouldn't start. My guess? Fuel pump. Is it related to my car getting torn apart last week? I'm not Bumbeck, so how would I know? However, seeing as how Subaru was gracious enough to cover the clutch under warranty, I have no doubt they'll fix whatever's actually ailing my Scooby. Today's task for you, is to tell us the most entertaining story about your least reliable car. More »

Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety and Democratic Senator Ellen Corbett of San Leandro are hopping mad that automakers are dodging California's Lemon Law by not covering military personnel transferred to the Golden State, as well as sending vehicles declared lemons to other states under the guise of "customer satisfaction" issues, rather than severe vehicluar defects. According to a 2006 memo, DaimlerChrysler attempted to send a lemon '04 Dakota to Washington state, stating "This is a regular transfer (to DaimlerChrysler) and should not be branded in any way as a lemon-law buyback." What say ye about these practices, Mister LaSorda? What say ye? – Davey G.
