The 2011 Pirelli Calendar, diverging from last year's Terry Richardson soft-core, features designer/photographer Karl Lagerfeld's take on Greek mythology, with Julianne Moore as a goddess. It's still full of naked women (and men!) selling tires, but classier naked women. (NSFW)
The Pirelli Calendar started out as an in-the-know publication designed to reward loyal dealers and customers, blossoming into an almost mythical creation. The web, and Terry Richardson, both have conspired to make it almost commonplace. We credit the choice of Lagerfeld, who brings it back to its original status.
There's also the introduction of a touch of man ass, which isn't something typically seen in the Pirelli calendar. In addition to the actress Moore, the calendar also features models Lakshmi Menon, Erin Wasson, and Bianca Balti stripping for Lagerfeld.
We're not sure if characters in Greek mythology are supposed to be melancholy or stoic, but they mostly just come off emo. Sad, naked, emo Greek goddesses.
