All those years spent pining for the Euro-only Ford Kuga crossover were not in vain for Ford has finely deigned us worthy with the Kuga-twin 2013 Ford Escape. Now we suddenly realize we never really wanted a crossover in the first place. Oh well. Our moms will buy them! More »

If you happen to live in a part of the world where buying a Ford Kuga is an option, you're about to get the choice of better fuel economy speeding towards a stop light or a speedier sprint going away from one. The latest Kuga includes the option of stripping out the all wheel drive for a front-wheel-drive powertrain operated by a fuel sipping 2.0 liter TDCi diesel with either a manual or auto transmission. If you're interested in speed rather than frugality, go for the 197 HP, 235 lb-ft 2.5 liter gas motor with all-wheel-drive and a five speed manual from the Focus ST and you get "scalding" 8.2 second acceleration to sixty miles per hour. If you want, you can also get an automatic with that motor, but why? Full press release with goofy European consumption and emissions table below.
Ford's just released two press releases detailing an OMFG $8.7 billion net loss for the second quarter of 2008 (which includes a pre-tax special charge of $8 billion, $5.3 billion of which is for Ford North America). But more importantly to the enthusiast is news they'll be bringing to North America six European small vehicles built off the global B-car and C-car platforms and converting three large truck and SUV plants to building small cars. It's part of something the company's calling "One Ford" which we think has something to do with making every product in every marketplace the same and it looks like the European products are winning out. Dear god, there is yet hope for this company. Full press releases after the jump. Give us a few minutes while we digest this. Also, our Cheerios. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/399169/breaking-ford-reports-87-billion-net-loss-for-second-quarter-2008-bringing-six-european-small-vehicles-stateside" title="Click here to read more about BREAKING! We hear many car-related rumors on a daily basis, but there's one that came across our desk today that's quite the whopper. Website Autosavant is claiming their sources within Ford are saying that three of the four plants shuttered after Ford's dramatic reorganization will be retooled to produce popular European models like the Ford Kuga and C-Max. From the Autosavant piece:
Our sources at Ford say that Mr. Mulally has already made the decision to convert at least three truck/SUV production facilities in North America as soon as possible to produce Ford models currently sold in Europe, where Ford is renowned for its small cars. The timeline Mulally prefers, according to insiders, is "yesterday". He has made up his mind and is pushing forward.
Why we're taking this rumor with an Expedition-sized grain of salt below the jump. More »

The full production photos and details of the new Ford Kuga are finally here and it's still an attractive, capable looking C1-based AWD crossover that we'll probably never get. Would anyone here even be interested in the 2.0-liter Duratorq TDCi engine or standard six-speed manual transmission? We didn't think so. In addition to choosing between FWD and the Haldex intelligent AWD system, the Kuga follows other Ford of Europe products in offering the "cool and colorful" Trend package or "modern, techno premium-feel" Titanium version. This five-passenger CUV also offers a 60/40 second row designed to fold completely flat. Pre-Geneva pics and press release below the jump. More »

The sporty crossover is yet another take on the "kinetic design" from Ford Europe that we continue to lust after and will feature the 2.0-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel engine. More »

Here's the first details and non-sketch shots of the new Ford Kuga crossover — which we already told you we'd be seeing first hand at the Frankfurt Auto Show next week. The people carrier inspired by the Iosis-X Concept revealed last year at the Paris Auto Show will hit the streets officially in early 2008. The Kuga will come in both a FWD and 4WD and although specific powertrain details won't be released until closer to the 2008 launch of the car-UV, it will definitely include the 2.0-liter Duratorg TDCi CRD engine we've already seen at the premium end of the Euro Ford Focus line and in the Ford Mondeo. We'll see it live and in-person at the Frankfurt Show, so hopefully we'll have some more info for you on it then. But even if we don't, fear not — we won't be seeing it stateside anyway. More »

Although the name's pronounced kinda like "Cougar," it's anything but the old Mercury. Still, it's a hot looking little number FoMoCo of Europe will introduce at the Frankfurt Auto Show this September based off of the Iosis X concept car (pictured below) introduced in Paris last year. Unfortunately, we'll not be seeing it on this side of the pond — it's for the Euro market only. We feel like that's always the way it is with these guys. Full release after the jump. More »
