The mystery crossover ute we've been seeing spy shots of for the better part of a year is now ready to join Dodge's "Crew" as the Dodge Journey. Set to be unveiled at next month's Frankfurt Auto Show, the Dodge Journey represents the newest assault by the Dodge brand on the global <strike>sensibilities</strike> MPV market. The Journey's a crossover that "evokes the capable look associated with SUVs" yet still manages to be built on the Dodge Avenger platform, albeit lengthened by 4.9 inches. Designed for sale as a 2009 model-year vehicle in both the US market as well as worldwide, the Journey will hit our highways in both a five-passenger and 5+2 seating in the first quarter of 2008, and hit cobblestone streets across the pond in both left-hand and right-hand drive starting in mid-2008. Check out the full press release and a short video on the Journey below the jump to find out exactly how this egg-mobile's going to change your life by letting you "Grab Life" — and then Flip 'N Stow™ it. We couldn't stop believing the utility of it either. Sorry, had to drop the "Journey" reference in there. The sneaky spy photographers of KGP happened upon yet another Dodge Crew crossovers out testing in the hot summer sun. Whereas last time they got us some great shots of the overall exterior, this time it's all about the interior and the taillights of the new crossover, originally called JC49, first anticipated to be seen in the Euro market. Here's what KGP has to say:
The dashboard design looks quite underwhelming, although we would guess that this prototype isn't finished in its final production plastics. At least we hope that's the case. The three-pod layout to the guage package looks a bit retro. The overall equipment level of this prototype seems pretty basic—not necessarily a bad thing, however, in a world of overly complex driver interfaces...
<a href="http://jalopnik.com/291271/dodge-crew-now-with-interior-photos" title="Click here to read more about Dodge "Crew": Now With Interior Photos!">More »

We've seen all sorts of fully clad shots of Dodge's new crossover car-based ute, but this is the first time we've seen it disrobed in any way. True, it's just sans black leather chaps on the doors, roof and grille, but it's most assuredly the new "top-secret" crossover. Sources close to the Dodge division have called it the "Crew," but we do know the codename — JC49. After the jump, we've got what we've been told by spy photog Brenda Priddy about the "Crew" spotted in these new Chris Doane-snapped shots: <a href="http://jalopnik.com/280510/dodge-crew-crossover" title="Click here to read more about Dodge "Crew" Crossover">More »

Our man with the cam, Evander, snapped some great shots of the upcoming Dodge JC49 crossover with a minivan nanny over on I-75 that we bet could make even Priddy's boys beam with pride. The JC49, which has also been called the "Crew," is built off of the JS/JC platform — the very same one the Sebring and Avenger find themselves birthed from. So, umm, what else — well, it's got dual pipes, so maybe it'll have the 3.5-liter V6 engine on the high end. And, umm, we also hear it'll begin production in December of this year. So, that's good — at least we know the pending sale of the Chrysler Group isn't putting a damper on their attempts at platform prostitution. Ah, some things will never change. – Ray Wert More »

Although it doesn't yet have a name — just an internal code designation at the 'merican side of the German-American hybrid — we've heard from the kids over at Allpar that it may be called the "Crew." We've no idea, but we do know the site all about the Mopar-love claim to have the scoop, being the first to buy the Priddy pics. Here's what they're saying about what Priddy's spy shooter saw:
"The top photo is from a "blind" drive clinic in Southern California; it shows the JC49 to be built in Toluca, based on the Chrysler Sebring platform, with production scheduled for December 2007. Chrysler may eventually get a version of this vehicle, which might or might not be called the PT Cruiser; it's scheduled for about 25% of the production total, and would have completely different sheet metal..."
<a href="http://jalopnik.com/246917/spy-photos-dodge-jc49-crew-crossover" title="Click here to read more about Spy Photos: Dodge JC49 "Crew" Crossover">More »

The shooters at KGP have snapped shots of a crossover vehicle we've heard is code-named JC49 — it's a vehicle which will supposedly be built on the frame of the new Sebring/Avenger platform. Where what we've heard has diverged from what others are saying is on what market the new CUV (plus its potential Chrysler-branded cousin, which apparently has a similarly alphanumeric name — the JZ49) is heading for. The people at the ever-curvaceous Road claim it's meant to fight off the Toyota Highlander and Ford Edge on these shores — but we've heard it's to be built out of the Toluca, Mexico plant that's currently building PT Cruisers, and that it's meant to fight MPV's from a broad-range of competitors across the pond in Europe. It may be part of the Chrysler Group's plans to fight them over there while making cars that aren't selling over here — or something like that. – Ray Wert More »
