The GTI is the hot hatch that started hot hatchbacks. And now it's gotten to the point where it might be the only car you'll ever need to own.
On this week's episode of Chris Harris On Cars, Chris has the new GTI out for a lark (I think that's a thing) in the European mountains. While there, he tries to answer a philosophical question: Is the new GTI all the car an enthusiast ever needs? With 220 horsepower, a great manual gearbox, good steering, and room to transport people and goods, it just might be.
And while he ponders that, we get to enjoy some spirited driving, hear the GTI's subdued yet authoritative exhaust note, and stare at the glory that is Harris' manly man beard. That beard is worth the price of entry on its own.
