We’ve seen the glorious Aston Martin DB11 already. In fact, we’ve met one, too. We got to listen to it. It sounded great. So, why are there two mules, one camouflaged and one not, running around in this video at the Nürburgring with V8 noises blowing out?

The white car clearly has a DB11 body. The black one is vaguely that. Both of them have the unmistakable grumble of a V8—and an AMG V8 at that.

We’ve known that the AMG and Aston Martin partnership would result in engine sharing, and it looks like these two engine mules are the embodiment of that relationship. What you’re hearing here is most likely the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that will appear in the 2017 Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Nobody knows what it will look like yet.

However, if we are to believe Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer, the new V8 Vantage could very well come with three pedals. Hallelujah!
