Brilliant World Cup Google Doodle Is A Salute To The Volkswagen Beetle

I gotta hand it to Google — someone there knows something about VW Beetles. When they were deciding on what to make for a Doodle to commemorate the Brazil v. Germany soccer/feetball match, they picked a great hook: both countries built Beetles.

Sure, Germany was the original source, but no one can deny that the Beetle in Brazil (known there as the Fusca) took on a huge life of its own. In Brazil, the Beetle became the most popular car for a long while, learned how to live on sugar cane alcohol, and even came back from the dead.

Great work, anonymous doodle artist! And remember, this would work for Mexico, too.
