I've been hearing a lot about Kerouac's On The Road lately, and even though I think it's a pretty weak novel- don't even get me started on that tirade- it did get me thinking about great road-trip descriptions in literature. While Neal Stephenson's knock-you-on-your-ass brilliant Cryptonomicon has a fairly low Car Stuff Per Page Quotient (CSPPQ), the parts featuring the Shaftoe Brothers and their Impala are pure Car Geek Gold.
