Hennessey Venom GT World’s Fastest Edition: God Bless American Speed

The Texas-built Hennessey Venom GT is now the fastest car in the world, having hit 270.49 mph on the same runway where the Space Shuttle landed at the Kennedy Space Center. To commemorate this victory for glorious American speed, Hennessey has released a very lovely special edition of their record-shattering machine.

Meet the Hennessey Venom GT World's Fastest Edition. Appropriately, it's decked out in a red, white and blue livery just like the American flag they flew on the runway the day they set their record.

And underneath that gorgeous coloring it has the same 7.0-liter twin turbo V8 that puts out 1,244 horsepower for a car that just weighs 2,743 pounds. It will do zero to 186 mph (300 km/hr) in just 13.63 seconds. Amazing.

Now comes the bad news. They're only making three of these special editions, and all three have already been sold for $1.25 million. Hennessey says this makes it not only the fastest car in the world, but also one of the rarest.

Your move now, Countries That Aren't America.
