Last week we showed you a Corvette Z06 racing a Koenigsegg CCXR at the mile long Moscow Unlimited, with surprising results. We would hardly call this footage from the same event a race (we aren't sure what happened to the BMW) but the results are certainly still surprising. Based on spy photos the Detroit News appears to have received from a reader, Jeep's hot-rod mid-size SUV may soon be able to pull your boat. According to their report, the 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 has been spotted with the dual center-mounted exhaust outlets moved to one-per-side, and the test mule was seen pulling a trailer. Jeep hasn't revealed any power numbers for the next Jeep SRT8, but we have to believe they should at least match the current Grand Cherokee SRT8's 425 HP and 420 lb-ft of torque. During our Hennessey Performance HQ tour there were three vehicles that caught our eye, all non-Vipers and all for foreign customers. The first was a Grand Cherokee that I mistakenly took to be Hennesey's personal Grand Cherokee SRT600, but it had Mexican plates. It turns out the owner wanted his Cherokee to be able to run the quarter mile in the 10-second range. They tried explaining that it'll easily run low 12's and that the cost to get it to run 10's was rather high, but he insisted. Essen Motor Show: The Delta DUNE Project

The Deutschland 4x4 tuners at delta4x4 have taken on the Jeep Grand Cherokee for the Essen Motor Show, building out the big Jeep mainstay into the Delta DUNE Project, a 499 horsepower desert racer. With a 0-60 time of less than five seconds, Delta's taken the SRT8 to a whole new level. On the exterior, the DUNE has been lifted by just under four inches, but given a wedge shape with the new front spoiler lowering the clearance by about two inches, and it's riding on custom 23 inch Elements IV wheels. If it's the New York Auto Show, it must be time for new Jeeps. For some odd reason the 'merican side of the German-American hybrid has found New York's the place to show off their new rock-crawlers — last year showing off the new Jeep Patriot and the four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This year the boys n' girls from ~~Stuttgart~~ Auburn Hills have so far unveiled the new 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. And let's just say — it's amazingly similar to the old one. Except for like, one big difference. This year, the GC is going diesel and it's going low-end on the V8. That's right, the news on the Grand is the addition of the 3.0-liter common rail diesel V6 engine available on the Limited and the Overland and the addition of an all-new 4.7-literV8 engine which becomes the new standard on the Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. The Grand Cherokee SRT8 is already somewhat of a sleeper. Certainly, those in the know recognize its prodigious performance. But what happens when one sends one's Jeep off to Hennessey for a 27k tune-up? Epic soccer-mom-look hoonage available at a stab of the loud pedal to the tune of 620hp and 650 turbocharged torques. Car and Driver recently took one out for a spin, and the boys from Ann Arbor point out that it's quicker than practically anything one can buy for the price, hammering not only its ber-ute bretheren, but such warp-velocity steeds as the Lamborghini Gallardo; it's only off the much-lighter Z06's quarter-mile time by half a second. What's this familiar SUV spotted way the hell up in northern Scandinavia, near the Norwegian border? According to those familiar three letters, it's the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the CRD Diesel engine. That's the Benz-built 3.0-liter diesel, producing 215 hp and 376 lb.-ft. torque. Chrysler announced last month the current CRD-powered model will have an MSRP of $38,475. According to spies, some bumper tweaks and seven-spoke wheels indicate this is the 2008 model, which will get a minor facelift over the current Grand Cherokee. We've just heard the 'merican side of the German-American hybrid's recalling 62,369 vehicles for what Reuters says is a need to "reprogram a computer that is related to the brake system." And it's a lot of models affected: the Chrysler Sebring, Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger sedans, Dodge Caliber, Dodge Magnum, Jeep Commander, Jeep Compass, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Wrangler and Dodge Nitro SUV's. We went and got it a bit dirty out at Chrysler's Proving Grounds after the Sebring reveal this morning.
