Whereas "Godzilla" is just a nickname for the Nissan GT-R, the Geely King Kong is actually the name of a compact hatch set for sale in China. The little crazy-eyed car will be available with either a 1.5L or 1.8L four-cylinder with auto and manual transmissions available. ChinaCarTimes is speculating the hairy ape will be one of the cheapest cars on the Chinese lot with an auto, coming in at a bargain basement price of around 70,000 yuan, or about $10,000. The only real question here is what would a remake of the epic battle between King Kong and Godzilla look like? Our guess is Godzilla would rip its head off. Now that almost everyone would drive a Japanese and now a Korean car, it's worth asking if you all would drive a Chinese car. In fact, given all that's coming out at this year's explosive Beijing Motor Show, it is a harder question than it has been in the past. First it was those wily Italian Ferrari forgers, now the masters of intellectual property reuse seem to be getting into the game of copying the prancing pony boys. By the looks of this illustration, Chinese automaker Geely seems to be flattering Maranello's F1 squad by way of imitation. We're not exactly sure just how official this is, but the mere possibility of Geely building such a car has our heads spinning. Do they really intend on competing in Formula One? Would the car be constructed from carbon-fiber or fiberglass? Would it have a high-revving V8 or a loosely-assembled pig-iron four-banger? Will the paint be lead-based? China's Geely motors drew a crowd with promises of free cookies, tea sets and London cabs. In fact, it may have been the greatest display of pro-England sentiment since before the unequal treaties. Geely showed off its version of LTI's famous London taxi, the TX4, which we probably won't see in the states until next century, along with other models in the Geely line. The jewel of that line, at least according to the officials at the mic, is the company's BMBS ground-control system, which keeps cars pointed straight ahead after blowouts, likely as a result of driving on China's rough secondary roads. Geely bosses call this system, "paramount for the safety of human life, and "a great gift to mankind given by the Geely Group." We are grateful for such a gift, and that goes double for the tea set.
