It's not quite Subaru Sambar-sized, but Ford's B-Max concept from Geneva suggests just how small a modern car can get and still get called a van. The trick here? No door pillars, an engineering feat Ford says is production-ready.

Powered by a 3-cylinder, 1-liter Ecoboost turbo engine, the B-Max looks just a wee bit taller than the Fiesta it's based on. To maximize the van-ly character, Ford came up with dual sliding rear doors that when closed provide the same rigidity as a traditional B-pillar.

While not calling it a production model, the B-Max is likely to come forth from a Ford factory in Romania within the next couple of years, given that its business case only gets stronger every time someone checks an oil price ticker.
