Ferrari Formula One driver Fernando Alonso was released from the hospital shortly after being admitted after hopping some curbs involving Jean-Eric Vergne at today's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Alonso says he's got a stiff neck, so he may avoid crushing walnuts with it for awhile.
Alonso was asked to go to the hospital by the stewards, who received an alarm after his car decelerated with the force of 28 times the pull of gravity when he hopped some curbs trying to avoid hitting Vergne, and in so doing he triggered the alert when his car exceeded 18G vertically, according to the BBC.
Though his back still hurts a bit, he said he's hoping to be alright by the race in Austin in two weeks.
