Lorenzo Ramaciotti, condescending head of design for Fiat, tells AutoWeek why Europeans don't have the obnoxious American cupholder requirements. But hey, you wanna cupholder in your Cinquecento, America? My beater '92 Civic gets 40 MPG yet still goes pretty well, and I can thank the crank windows, manual steering, and lack of sound insulation for its frugality. Still, it does have air conditioning, which I've come to appreciate. More »

Despite what that Cadillac commercial featuring the chick from Grey's Anatomy says, excessive cup holders can be useful in many circumstances. That's why Targus has released a product to make better use of the cup holder. This is a pretty standard power inverter that takes the electrical juices from a 12V DC connection and converts it over to the standard 120V AC current that can power many of life's greatest gadgets. Also included is a USB port and PPS port to charge a variety of gadgets like cell phones and MP3 players. It's available for $50 and looks a hell of a lot better than the big and bulky power inverters of yesteryear. If the world needed any more proof that Americans are some fattie mcfatties, we present the French-Fry Holder. This $10 device fits in cup holders and holds a standard cardboard container of french fries. It even has a small holder for ketchup, for those fattersons that need to add a little more flavor (and sodium) to their deep-fried potato sticks. A no-slip grip secures the device in any cup-holder to prevent any wasted fries. Weren't French fries designed to be the perfect food while driving? Sure, we're all about driving safety, which this device addresses, but we wonder if the morbid-nature of this product outweighs its positives.
