Considering vintage Cadillacs are rarely the first choice for a hot rod platform, it's hard to believe this is the second old Caddy sedan we've seen with a Cummins diesel where it's factory V8 once was. While the other diesel Cadillac sedan we saw was a SEMA show car, this 1960 Cadillac currently listed on Ebay is pure ratty hot rod. More »

What would you do if you came upon a well used and slightly rusted vintage SUV? While some might just get it running and drive it, the owner of this vintage Willys Wagon decided two doors and an inline six just wouldn't do. The lifted and stretched four door Willys seen here is the unique result. Featuring a modern diesel drive-train this updated and restored Willys is currently for sale on Ebay. More »

The Cummins V18 diesel, typically found in earth-moving equipment, produces over 10,000 lb-ft of torque in this elongated Mini. That may be enough power to move its 11-ton heft, but doing so would likely crush the car. It's beautiful sacrilege, putting a built Cummins 12V turbodiesel into a 1968 Corvette. Ryan Lusk of Iowa-based Low Budget Diesel Performance has done just that, and he's decided to take the car drag racing. Ryan is a great American hero. More »

We've personally experienced one with 800 HP and over 1100 lb-ft of torque. Of course, that kind of power requires massive modification; giant twin fart-can-like exhausts are not among those. More »

Rumors have been swirling of a new smaller-displacement Cummins diesel for the 2010 Dodge Ram 1500. But until now, nobody had any idea exactly what size the new oilburner would be. According to a sticker spotted under the hood of a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500, the new diesel will displace five liters. What we find particularly funny is that the sticker specifies the air-conditioning refrigerant charge for each of the Ram's available engines, but all the engines have the same charge specification, so the sticker doesn't really need to specify engine displacement in the first place. More »

You know, getting 72 mpg in our nice 2007 Honda Civic diesel was fun and all, but somehow this appeals to us a lot more. There's at least one of us that grew up with this sport of kings as regular Friday night entertainment. Modified trucks with solid suspensions, fat tires, oversized injectors, bus turbos, eight or nine hundred pound feet of torque. Sometimes we wish there was a word for Tim Allen's little man bark, but there just isn't. There's nothing quite so American as hearing a turbo spool up in the distance and then that screaming Cummins shakes your chest as it passes by on its way to a full pull. We need a cold Pabst and a long mullet. More »

As the last chunks of salt are chipped off the race cars there is a post <a href=http://jalopnik.com/cars/speed-week/">speed week battle forming.
