Sign Of The Automotive Apocalypse: Automotive News Is The New Fast Lane Daily?

Everyone’s favorite source of automotive news, Automotive News, is launching a daily video from the fast lane called "Automotive News Today." The 3-minute segment will be presented by some guy in an ill-fitting suit and a bad haircut "veteran broadcast journalist" Tom Worobec and attempt to present an overview of daily news that has the potential of affecting automakers, dealers and suppliers. There’s just one problem.

Like Crain's text-based news service, "Automotive News Today" will only be available to paid subscribers and won’t be syndicated on YouTube or any other similar web video service. It’ll therefore only be available to a small, captive audience that already consumes Automotive News content. With no potential for reaching a wider audience through syndication and only seeking to repackage existing content in an annoying package, we fail to see the point of the publication investing in video. I guess we’ll just have to keep watching Wert on CNBC or Spinelli on Fast Lane Daily. [Source: Automotive News]
