With the likes of the Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Rapide and Lamborghini Estoque super sedans coming to the Paris Motor Show, it made sense for young Russian designer Krasnov Igor to render up his idea of what a Ferrari four-door should look like. Thankfully, there likely won't be such a product, but if there will, we sure hope it doesn't look much like Igor's design. One could argue that the basic shape, if you squint, isn't all that bad, but the roof treatment and rear end completely ruin the rest of the package, and the wavy body panels make BMW's flame-surfacing look tame. Jaguar recently trademarked the names "C-XE," "C-XJ," and "XE." Could a spiritual successor to the classic E-Type finally be on the way? Sure, we've come close before, with the F-Type concept, but if this new name trademarked by the company is any indication, there may be another roadster in the pipeline. As was the case with the C-XF concept, which previewed the production Jaguar XF, the C-XE will likely be a concept which previews a possible production model Jaguar XE. Not content to debut just the freshly face-lifted 2009 Mazda MX-5 at the Paris Motor Show, Mazda will also be showing off it's latest iteration of the Nagare design language via the Mazda Kiyora Concept. The "urban compact concept car" features not just the swoopy design style, but also a four-cylinder direct-injection engine capable of stop-start operation and a new conceptual platform designed for optimized safety and driving dynamics. In addition to the MX-5 and the Kiyora, we'll get our first peek at the Euro-spec Mazda6 with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel, and the Mazda2 with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel, both of which we'll wantonly covet. Because everyone knows how popular the tandem bicycle is, Volvo's Monitoring and Concept Center has designed this vehicle that takes a cue from the tandem bike. This is Volvo's Tandem Car. The schtick behind this thing is that it is an inline two-seater that is also, what else, but energy efficient. The design of the Tandem Car is inspired by overcrowded urban areas that could benefit from luge-looking vehicles. Just check out the gallery and decide for yourself. Despite what you may or may not think about F1 racing in light of the recent hooker-centric events, it's still a pretty damn popular sport. As such, John Pszeniczny has taken inspiration from the racing series to create the F1/Carbon GMT watch. This design's a concept made of carbon fiber — we think to make it lighter so it can, you know, go faster — Swarovski crystals, rubber and metal. One particularly cool feature is the watch's ability to tell you the time at the 18 different F1 circuit cities — so you never, ever miss a race start. Hot Wheels' 40th anniversary is upon us and to celebrate Mattel, parent company of Hot Wheels, arranged the "Hot Wheels Designer's Challenge." This challenge gave a handful of big name car manufacturers like Honda, Lotus and Mitsubishi the opportunity to design a crazy ass Hot Wheels car. Summer jobs that involve sitting on a tractor for hour upon hour, trying to find ways to entertain yourself, may soon be a thing of the past. The Valtra RoboTrac is an autonomous tractor design by Hannes Seeberg. Inside the orange body is a fairly simple 85hp diesel engine. It's available in RWD or AWD and can supposedly boost efficiency and minimize crop damage. It works thanks to good old GPS and the Internet. More »

There's something about a good bucket-seat. You know, the kind that fit you just right, look sexy, and make you feel at one with the machine. On the other hand, Nestt's version of the bucket isn't sexy—at all. And I'm not sure that it would fit anyone right enough to make them feel at one with their ride. Nevertheless, there's ambition here: Nestt says it wants to make it the best car seat in the world. There were many factors that lead to the egg-shaped design, including an air-suspension system, breathable material, memory foam and retractable seatbelts. But somehow I'm not totally buying it. Moving into the future by combining the pioneering engine technologies of Rudolph Diesel and Nicolaus Otto is Die Reiselimousine der Zukunft. The Mercedes F700 concept predicts the coming standard of the large touring saloon by melding superior design with several hectares of auto-adjusting plush leather. This morning we showed you the video, now clock the static image. This is Mercedes' idea of the future. The future of luxury to be specific. Obviously it's three-shades of bling imposing and chock full of the luxo-goodies you'd expect on the finest yachts, but it also sports a turbo-charged, direct injection diesel motor with multi-cylinder deactivation and a hybrid support system. That's a microcar with suicide doors. Johnson's goose cooking suicide doors. But just two, as the driver's side features a Tjorven-style slider. That combo is... well, it's unique. And Dutch/Italian is way cooler than plain old French. Predicting a near-future where traffic snarls and general congestion would make life in the city (or at least parking) miserable, the Dutch rubber band mad men of DAF teamed up with the slick Italian coachbuilder OSI to produce the City Car concept. Why suicide doors? Why the hell not? Fine, they are supposed to make the car more practical. We also love the white vinyl-look interior. Especially the door padding.
