Few refreshes are so refreshing as the one given to the 2011 BMW M3. The front lip is subtly improved, there's a new competition package and it's now got start-stop technology. According to England's EVO Magazine, there's a lighter, track-ready version of the Toyota FT-86 planned that will drop the price from around $27,000 to $22,000 while adding stiffer suspension and stronger brakes. Yesterday we told you all about the greatest Fierrari Enzno ever built, a piece of kit with such attention to detail it would make a Swiss watchmaker weep. Today we pick up on another niche coachbuilder following in the footsteps of the Fierrari, Edo Competition. Despite starting off with an actual Enzo instead of a Pontiac Fiero, Edo totally falls flat when compared to the magic of the Enzno. In-depth analysis below the fold. More »

Dodge has announced the winner of the "Are You Tuned Out" contest, which invited the boyfriends and girlfriends of gearheads to write a short essay explaining why their significant other was completely ignoring them. The winner was Zach Madrid of Colorado Springs, who was so tuned-out that he was unable to have a "civilized conversation" with his fiancee if there was a car on television. As the winner of the competition, Madrid gets a brand new Caliber SRT4, which is sure to drive a wedge deeper into their already delicate relationship. Students at the University of British Columbia handily trounced competitors in this year's SAE Supermileage Competition, using their superior engineering kung-fu to achieve over 3,000 mpg in a car they designed and built. The competition pits smartypants against propellerhead to see who can best expand the efficiency of an internal combustion engine, and the UBC has won in four out of the six competitions it's entered. Employing principals of aerodynamics, weight reduction, and drawing on Canada's storied advancements in dildonics, the team thrusted to victory, despite a diminutive 54cc unit. <a href="http://jalopnik.com/182895/stick-your-fossil-fuel-eh-canadian-students-build-3145+mpg-car" title="Click here to read more about Stick Your Fossil Fuel, Eh?
