"@Bumblebee: "Damn, I wish I had a woman who looked at me like that for inventing something as hokey as an intermittent windshield wiper."
The ever hot Lauren Graham, yes I'm one of the few heterosexual males who watched "Gilmore Girls"."
"Oh that is just sweet!I just "inherited" a '79 F150 4X4 from my neighbor Vernon,he just passed away about a month ago at 94,and damn,I still miss talking to him.Same truck basically, just way taller,no lift kit or anything, just the way they were built then, not to mention my beautiful two tone white and blue old beast doesn't have a straight body panel on her,the old girl has been rode hard and put away wet,but a trooper.I tried to outrun a storm last winter for a run to town, took the truck just in case (chaining up a car is a real pain in the ass).I lost the race,I drove home in a damn near blizzard, once I saw the "chain control" sign, the old beast and her snow tires were locked and loaded in four wheel drive, and the old girl got me home safely, and slowly."
"@layabout: Ya wuss!I'm 6'3" and did it in a Plymouth Champ, not saying it was easy though,I like your idea better. And thanks Jalopnik,my "first time" was in the back of '73 Pinto Squire Wagon (surprisingly roomy with the back seat folded down).Ahhhh, the memories, the scarring, scarring memories, like getting busted by the Orange County CA Sheriffs Department post fumbling (first time, lot's of fumbling around, not much actual sex). The nice deputies pretty much just snickered and sent us on our way, thankfully,at that age, alcohol was NOT involved."
"@instant_karma: What to you know?I use the same alarm system,a morbidly obese Blue Queensland Heeler, perfectly fine otherwise as far as people are concerned, but DON'T MESS WITH HIS CARS!They're not my cars anyway, there his,I just pay the tags and insurance, not to mention being his driver.Truly amazing how smart the breed is (for a dog),I get same thing,I say little car,he heads for the Toyota Wagon, big car,off to the Lincoln, same with "truck" or "jeep".Fiercely loyal, yeah, ready to work, ummm,no,too old,to fat, work to him is making sure he knows where I am at all times.
He loves being in anything that moves, but, today,I had to leave him home alone for couple hours, just to hot to have him waiting in the car for me,water dish or not.He hates it,thinks he's being punished or something,he just doesn't understand it's for his own good that he's here in the house with the A/C on while I'm sweating my way down the hill to get tires on my wagon with no A/C."
"Well, there's one good thing about the Spits and the GT6,the hood sure makes for easy access.I was only in kindergarten but can still remember Dad working on his 64 Spitfire sitting on one of the front tires."
"@junkman: Your so right, should be near Monterey......I nominate lovely Marina.
Man,I thought those Cruisin' Wagons were so cool,I blame youth and stupidity, but, then,my second car was a bitchin' '73 Pinto Squire wagon with those same cool wheels, nothing says "babe magnet" like a Pinto with fake wood siding, and those rocking factory rims!"
"@tonyola: Alas, the seller mentions an Alpine CD player,If any vehicle is screaming for an 8-track deck (preferably an under dash Pioneer "Super Tuner") and a copy of Foghat's "Fool for the City",this is the one....."
"@Bee1: Absolutely, whenever I'm driving the company truck,I'm well aware that I'm basically driving a rolling billboard complete with our address and phone number plastered on the doors....."
"I love the fact it has a long-get-tunadle engine according to the voice over.I had one of these indestructible little beasts years back,I'd completely forgotten the engine/trans setup.Hey after close to 50 (if not over) mostly forgettable cars in the 27 years since I got a license, the memories tend to fade (age and beer consumption also help fading memories). At least I've slowed down on the car consumption, only had 3 "daily drivers" in the last 5 years, two of which I still own and drive...."
"Damn,The orignal Eleanor loses out to Eleanor II yet again.Yeesh, has no-one seen the original movie? That movie is craptastic,no actors,no plot, but the best chase scene ever.....Well,Bullit is probably the best ever..."
"Wow,never seen nor heard of one of one of these things in all my 44 years!Wonder how you attach it?
I do have a very fading memory of some tent thing that would attach to the back of the old Fairlane wagon when I was a wee lad.My folks started upgrading after that, starting with a slide-in on Dad's F-100.
Camping was sure cool, when I was a kid, wouldn't do it now on a bet."
"In the parlance of my avatar,"C'mon!".While any Peugeot Diesel would be my personal hell if forced to drive one (my Dad's wife had one of the same vintage, couldn't get out of it's own way on real diesel),the Austin is the hands down winner for hell.
Let's see,take a complete P.O.S."
