<![CDATA[SeanKHotay commented on Are You Proud To Buy American Cars?]]> Car chorus: I would if they built something I like, need, and/or want. Of the new cars, a Viper & 'Vette are the only ones that fit that bill...just not the billfold.

I'm a pretty consistant fan of one euro marque because of their characteristic & design fit my likes, needs, and wants.

Trucks? I'm proud to buy a GM or Ford (tho maybe "less so" new) at this point. I've my millenium F350 diesel so I'm set for a few decades.

<![CDATA[SeanKHotay commented on Ford To Bring Mustang SVO Badge Back For 2010 With 300 HP Eco-Boosted Four-Cylinder]]> WhoTF is Ford kidding here with this Eco-boost crap?

1) Other marques have been doing this for years, no, sorry, decades.

B) What kind of eco-mileage do they get at 300hp?

III) Knowing Ford, what level of hip-slammin' lag do they get before hitting 300HP? I'm guessing dog-tired levels...(I'm looking at you, you hairless Chihuahua-built engine)

Ford!) Even if they're using disco-potatoesque turbos with ubermechatronics, off the line it'll need a 4000rpm stall torque converter. Or clutch replacement after 1000 miles or starts, whichever is first.

(some M-guy bookmark this so they can call me out l8er as was done with the ZR1 h8ers...)

<![CDATA[SeanKHotay commented on "El Camino" Name Is Still Alive For The Pontiac G8 Sport Truck]]> @TriShield:
For this exact reason, I say they should retire the El Camino name. IMHO, "G8 El Camino" sux to the max....

In keeping with the Pontiac brand, "G" theme, and the American Indians (Pontiac) adopting the Spanish El Camino, why not these ideas:

Pontiac Gizos Nektosha (Patawatomi for "Sun/Moon Horse")

...in fitting with "God Dog" which is what the American Indians originally called the horse. And following that, for the V6, I suggest they can call it:

Pontiac Goshe (just "the dog" in Patawatomi)

<![CDATA[SeanKHotay commented on The Skylane Is Cool, But Is It Worth 750 Grand?]]> @SeanKHotay: OK, I know less about the Packard than I thought.

Per someone who knows way more about it than me, it's a 1936 Packard Eight chassis with a 1936 Packard Twelve (V12, sometimes called "Twin 6") motor fitted with twin superchargers. The body is actually a 1929 Auburn model 120.

<![CDATA[SeanKHotay commented on 2010 BMW Z4 Interior Makes A Sneak Appearance]]> @Ben Wojdyla: I have to partially agree with Benovite here.

While it's certainly not the worst out there...

For a base model, maybe the interior's up to expectations.

For a >$35K car (Convertible, GT-H, GT500, and how many other variants?), not even close.

JMHO...

For reference, I drove a Hertz Shelby GT-H for a weekend back in March (Sebring 12 Hr). And I'm involved in automotive interiors for a supplier.

<![CDATA[SeanKHotay commented on The Skylane Is Cool, But Is It Worth 750 Grand?]]> Not a fan of this Skylane, either...not to my taste. And how can they call it a 1932 when the only claimed 1932 component is the leaf springs? It's all late '40s-'50s by sight...

Anyways, something more to my taste (and I know some details about) is this:

It's a '35 Packard Deitrich V12 up front and a '31 Auburn 852 Boat Tail in back...and lots of modifications in between.

Here it is before it was painted in its current color scheme:

I'm not going to go into it, but suffice it to say this car has a rich history.

Anyways, this Packard V12 Boat Tail went for either (depends on the source) $346.5K or $423.5K at the '07 Monterey Christie's auction, before most of this market/money contraction.

And I'd consider this to be more desireable than this Skylane.
