Milka should get some points for doing what every other driver would like to do- tell Danica to STFU, and drive her car.
Male drivers couldn't reract that way to Danica- they would end up looking like chauvenists in front of the Camera, so while Milka may not be near the quality of driver Danica is, she does possess the power to tell her off and make her look like the whiney little (what Polar described) she is.

Awesome job Milka- it almost helps me forgive you for your off track excursion at the Daytona Rolex 24 in 2007 that cost your team the overall win...

<![CDATA[Adidac425 commented on Are Cars Getting Uglier?]]> Generally speaking- I used to look forward to "new" cars, but not anymore. As a long time buyer of Honda products (we have had at least a dozen in the last 20 years) I can't help but be dissappointed when the new cars hit the showroom. The last great Accord redesign was in 98. I remember the first time I laid eyes on that generation Accord Coupe, and thought I was seeing way more car than the price on the window sticker would buy. I was so impressed that I bought both a 99 sedan, and a 99 coupe.
I felt the same way about the 3rd gen TL- and I own one of those now. Mitsubishi apparently agreed too because the new Lancer has damn near the same body lines as the 3rd gen TL.

The new Accord Sedan looks like a Hyundai, and the New coupe... oops, I just threw up in my mouth a little.

The new TSX represents better in person than it did on screen, but I still prefer the lines of the old one. The new TL... I'll reserve judgement until I see one, but honestly based on appearences it doesn't hold a candle to the car in my garage.

Lately all I have to get excited over are technical specs, and that is like meeting an unattractive woman with a great personality. It is great to be friends, but I don't want to date her.

Gibby is actually 18

Ferrari owners are pretentious. They are also slow on their internet ownage. It took them 2 days to find Gibby.
By way of comparison-
The NSX guys outted Nick Sitko as a self serving spammer, and sexual predator in just one page of internet ownage. 51 pages later half the damn internet was onboard to rub it in (even the LOTR forum members were giving him shit).

The punishment far better fit the crime in that instance.

One thing is for sure- Jim Mero is one hell of a driver.

Awesome sounds too.

<![CDATA[Adidac425 commented on Jerk Pees On Ferrari, The Internet Erupts]]> I think Gibby is 26 (the flikr album is "my 26th birthday") 26 is NOT a teenager. At age 26 I had left my pissing on Ferrari days behind me by at lease 2 years...

Also- how did those Canadian doush bags get to share company with those attractive ladies?

New haircut perhaps?

<![CDATA[Adidac425 commented on What Car Would You Like To See Get Electrified?]]> Americans like SUV's, and pick up trucks- if we got electric SUVs and pick up trucks, then Americans would buy them, and the demand for gas would wane. If demand wanes, then gas prices will drop, and if prices drop then it becomes more reasonable for me to fuel the NSX.

I vote SUV's and pickup trucks go electric FTW

<![CDATA[Adidac425 commented on What Should The National Speed Limit Be?]]> I reset the trip computer on my 04 TL when I gassed up and then hit the highway on our holiday drive to northern Michigan. This allowed for a higher "average speed" since I immediately got on the highway and drove for 300 or so miles with only a stop or 2 for rest breaks.

end result- Average speed = 71mph (I was driving between 75-80 mph most of the time with cruise set

average MPG= 29

That is a pretty good average for a car with a 3.2L 6 cyl.

Based on that completely non-scientific experiment I think 70 mph speed limit is reasonable.

Eric Stromer, host of the HGTV show "Over Your Head," started life in construction and remodeling houses after a short acting career as a soap opera hunk was abruptly ended by a Styrofoam boulder on the set of "Santa Barbara." For 20 years he ran a successful building company before becoming the face of HGTV's hit show. He's a regular on Adam Carolla's nationally-syndicated radio show giving out construction advice, and also appears on TLC's "Clean Sweep," NBC's "Three Wishes" and is a special correspondent for "The Insider." <![CDATA[Adidac425 commented on Ten Fuel-Efficient Used Cars You Can Buy Today!]]> @Amy Alkon: I like the insight option as well, but I am wondering about battery longevity if i buy a used one.
Admittedly I do not have ANY experience with the battery pack- but some cursory searches have found potential issues with battery degeneration (death of batteries so they will no longer accept a charge). When this happens, replacement appears to be the only solution, and at an estimated cost of $1227.00 USD found at the link below.

I would think that was an expense one should add when considering the cost of a used example.

Asking price + $1227 + labor.

Dixon's response: "well I really didn't see Danica at all during the race".

It is amazing to me how much hype Danica carries with her- Credit where it is due, she is a talented driver, but it seems like the prevailing opinion in mainstream news sources is that she is some sort of dominant force that would win any contest if not for whatever circumstantial mishap had befallen her... Whomever does her PR must be a genius.

<![CDATA[Adidac425 commented on Does Every Vehicle Need A "Performance Version"?]]> @valthun: Good point about Mini- but I don't want to buy a Mini... So what now?

Your point on unneccessary option packages is 100% correct though.

I also hate that I can't get certain color combinations- I can't get parchment leather in my polished metal metallic Acura TL, and if I want Moroccan red, I can't have black leather...

]]>
<![CDATA[Adidac425 commented on Does Every Vehicle Need A "Performance Version"?]]> "Performance versions" of production cars are really the only way manufacturers can incorporate modifications to their production lines, and I appreciate that they still want to cater to a customer like myself.

This causes me to think about the old "option code" systems you read about from the muscle car era. You could go to the dealer and spec out your car to include specific suspension, driveline, and comfort features.
While I think whistfully about having the plethora of choice, and I sit frustrated by the fact that I can't do anything similar at a dealership of today I also realize that modern production line efficiencies, and costs make optioning from the factory an impossibility.
Honda, Toyota, and Nissan attempted to employ upgrade programs a few years back with their A-spec, TRD, and NISMO dealer packaging but ultimately I think the package costs were too great from the dealer, and the aftermarket to easily accessible for the programs to really take hold. In reality the best models for that sort of business would be Roush, and Saleen- which operate independantly of the manufacturer, but utilize the dealer networks.

<![CDATA[Adidac425 commented on Question Of The Day: What's The Best Road Trip Vehicle?]]> I am going to break with tradition, untuck my tongue from cheek, and give a real answer for this one-

I usually road trip in my old 99 Honda Accord Coupe- but for my last trip across TX I took my Dad's 05 Acura RL- It was hard to get back into my Accord afterwards.

The RL has all the good drivers aids one needs while out on the road-
Satalite radio, Nav, comfy seats, easy to use controls (the basic control locations are very similar to my Accord), strong yet efficient engine linked to SH AWD that we got use from during a few nasty Texas downpours (the roads get really slick down there when they are wet). the car also features a nice paddleshift, but i didn't use it much on the highway. The RL has a huge trunk for luggage. My wife and I are expecting, and I also noticed the car has a powered rear window sunscreen, and built in manual side window sunscreens to keep the sun off the baby in the back seat- something handy to remember for future trips.

The cruise control had a really cool feature- it picked up cars ahead of us as we closed in on them and would moderate speed so we could keep distance- it seems silly, but it saved me several manual adjustments to the cruise speed, and that made the drive a lot less frustrating, and kept my wifes foot of the imaginary brake pedal.

When we got too tired to keep driving the nav found us a hotel, when we needed gas it told us where the next station was, and when we reached our destination it made it easier to spot the streets we needed to turn on (signs were hard to see in the rain, so my wife just read them off the screen while I drove).

Honestly, it seemed like the car had an answer for everything I could need out on the road.

The RL might be more of an "appliance" than Jalopnik standards would allow for. It certainly is more pedestrian than an 80's beemer, Volvo or any "whatever-amino" the day is calling for, but I gotta say- It was a hell of a great drive on that trip.

When I gave Dad back his keys I made sure to tell him I get first dibs next time he decides to trade up.
